It's not too soon as long as there's room for 'new friends' and acceptance that some people may lose touch so will come off the list...I think it's too early for STD because of these reasons....

I don't think it's too soon at all cause your entire wedding is based around how many people you have!! At least if they give you a prelim list, you are able to start getting things together and they could always add a couple more or subtract.
i would ask for a tentative list.....this way you can get an idea....but if mom forgot to put the lady from work on her list....she can still add her and it wont cause a fight!
I don't think it's too soon. I'm getting married in 2007 and I asked my FI to have his parents write out a tent list.
I dont think so. The sooner you know, the more accurate your planning will be.
