Is it too soon?

Is it too soon?

I am getting married in June ’06. Is it too soon to ask my FMIL and FFIL (divorced) and my parents for their guest lists? I just want to get a solid grasp on things. Our minimum is 175, and want to know how close we’ll be.

Thanks!

i asked both parents for the guest list before we booked the hall lol

Go for it! I made my list before we booked a place so we knew how many we could guarantee

I don't think so. This way you'll have a good idea about how many people you are inviting.

Never too soon to get the list together. Over a year ours had a few small changes but it really helps to have the number in mind throughout the planning.

I have been trying to get guest lists on FH side and all I get is 'oh you know who to invite'...I wouldn't be asking if I knew. I wouldn't any longer than June of this year to get a list because the number of people affect the number of tables which affects the number of centerpieces...and so on.

I am SO scared tho, b/c when FH's brother was married last May, his mom was still giving him names of people to invite 2 weeks before the wedding!!!!!!!!

Re: Is it too soon?

FMIL gave me a tentative guest list. We wanted one before we booked a hall...to make sure we could meet the minimum.

It may take them time to get it together anyway, so, the sooner the better!

I absolutely do not think it is too early-I already have the guest lists and I'm not getting married until Nov!!

NO I DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, eveyrone told me I was too soon to do everything.. thank god, I didn't listen, because with 1 month to go, I have so much to do, and I still had a head start...
You will see that your guest list is the biggest part of the planning, my fmil waitied until December to give me her list, and I had to rush and get 300 invites out in 2 weeks.. UGGHH>. people think it's so much time, but I'ts really not..l

GO ASK FOR IT!!!

Say you want to send out STD's so you need the guest list, you can send out STD's as early as you want

No, it is never to late. You will be going the list many times so it good to start as soon as you can.

Re: Is it too soon?

We got ours three days after getting engaged. WE wanted it in stone before we looked at halls. That way you can get a better idea of reception budget.

Re: Is it too soon?

I've been asking for a number of guests...not even an actual guest list and my FMIL doesn't have any idea of the actual total.
Luckily we designed our Save the Dates, so now she has a deadline.

Not too soon @ all. As a matter of fact I was at my parents tonight going over my brothers list. Hes getting married 7/06. He was able to cut about 15 more people off.
Good Luck.
