I was under the impression that this was not allowed anymore, because it's bad for birds?

Re: Is it true? Rice can be thrown at the church?
I think you have to ask the church. My church St. Patricks in Bay Shore does NOT allow it.

My priest said it was fine.

He said that the candy is hard to clean??? But in all honesty, I don't want to have rice thrown at me if it will hurt the birds.. just so that it's easy for the church to clean. I mean.. we're paying $500 to get married there.

I thought you couldn't throw rice because it made the birds explode (reading what I just wrote sounds ridiculous but that is what i heard!!!)

I think that's the same for me. The reason the priest gave was cleanup. He said no aisle runner because people may slip (unless I get the non-vinyl type). No roses thrown in church because???hmmn, slippage?
I really want something thrown. When you say the heart shape candy is edible, do you mean for the birds? Maybe they will let me do bird seeds. That way they don't have to cleanup.

Sorry, I go off on tangents. To answer your question, it depends on the church.

Re: Is it true? Rice can be thrown at the church?
They now make 'wedding rice' that is safe for the birds.
THANKS. Maybe they will approve this. Is anyone including a note or anything on the bags of rice, or do you think people will just get the idea. One of my friends had bubbles at her wedding and no one blew it because we didn't know when to do it. But then again, they didn't do a receiving line so they were already outside of the church.
Is everyone doing a receiving line? When are you giving out the rice? When people enter the church?
