MY OBGYN told me this...just wondering if anyone else heard this info? I'm wondering if it's because she encourages you to take the prenatals and get yourself in 'optiminum' health before trying????
She also said that there tends to be a higher rate of twins when you go off the pill and conceive during those first few months.

I would let all those hormones clear out of my body before, so I'd say yes.

my OBGYN would like me off for 2-3 months. for the reason you stated, and also, if you do get pregnant within the first month or so and something goes wrong, they have no background to look into. at least if you have been off 3-4 months and experiencing normal cycles, if there is a problem, it will be easier to pinpoint.

My dr didn't tell me that I should wait 2-3 months, he did say that the first month off the pill I might have a greater chance of getting pregnant.

I have just stopped my method because I want to have children. How long should I wait before trying to get pregnant?
It is recommended that you wait until you have had 2-3 normal menstrual cycles before trying to get pregnant. This is because it may take several months before your cycles return to normal after discontinuing a hormonal method. Doctors use the first day of your last menstrual period to determine your due date; if your periods are irregular this may result in an inaccurate date. Also, there is some evidence that birth control drugs may exert a prolonged effect on the endometrium, making it more difficult to become pregnant
