I already booked my photographer but he doesn't do black and white photojournalistic stuff. Do you think it's okay if I hire a different photographer all together to do the b&w shots that I want? Or do you think my current photographer would be offended? Opinions please...

Re: Is it weird to hire 2 different photographers
My concern is that they both get in each other's way while trying to get your key shots. And that, IMO, may offend both of them. Is it too late for you to look into hiring a photog who does both, like a Duet or Proline?

I don't know. I have to read my contract. My co-worker just brought it too my attention that his neighbor is the owner of one of the photo/video vendors on here and will give me a great price! What do I do??? Risk losing my $1000 deposit?

Read your contract closely, it might prohibit you from hiring another photographer. I remember seeing something like that in some of my contracts.
And you can always make a color photo black and white with photoshop.

i think it's perfectly fine, as long as your original photographer does not have a problem with it.

Hmm....that's a toughie but for you to decide. I will tell you though that after the wedding is over all you have (aside from a new hubby! :) are the photos. You've got to be happy. You may wish you'd sucked it up and lost the money to get your dream shots and video.

If I remember correctly, my friend had 2 different photographers, and I don't remember them getting in each others way since most of the photojournalistic stuff is candid

Believe me, I lose sleep over this! I'm so scared that I will miss a photo or a moment and I will never be able to get it back. Photos to me are the most important aspect of the day. Maybe I should suck it up.

That's what I was thinking. But I still don't know what to do. I have to go and review my contract...

Maybe he will refund you? I booked a florist and cancelled one month before the wedding (a whole other story) and the florist refunded me, even though he technically didn't have to.

Do what you want-check your contract. They should be professional enough to work together.
It may get insane for you during your wedding day.

i think most photographic contract prohibit the hring of another professional photographer. 2 of the contracts i've seen explicitly include language to that effect.
