I am totally freaking out today. Hank lane is not being negotiable at all on our band price. Now, the price of Oheka and the Band alone...is what I thought I would spend on my entire wedding. Is it worth it to have the wedding of your dreams even if you have to spend a fortune? I am just so worried that if everything does not turn out exactly how i want it ... i will look back in horror at the money i have wasted! What do you girls think...is it worth it?????? Sorry for the venting...i am in extreme emotional distress today

Okay, why don't you relax a little bit. Don't make yourself nuts I too am one to say, 'it's my wedding, I don't care how much it costs' but lately I've been changing my mind on a lot of things. I'm afraid to spend $4k on flowers & $2k on limos! Is Hank Lane the only band you have seen? Why don't you search a little bit more? There are tons of companies out there! Have you checked out Skyline Orchestras (I'm using them). Another popular one is Stan Wiest. I'm sorry I didn't help much, did I?
Good luck!
Edited to say: If you absolutely LOVE Hand Lane, then I would go for it!! JMO!

Re: Is it worth it?
annie.... i think you are going through what every bride is going through. you want everything to be picture perfect because you will remember it forever. ive had to say no to certain things cause i just dont have the money, and i would rather be able to save up for a house and all the expenses that come with a marriage. you should have the wedding of your dreams, but budget should also be important to save up for everything else of your dreams.

Re: Is it worth it?
There are lots of great bands in this area...I would suggest you trying to find some others to see if you can get a better deal. That way you will be happy that you got something worthwhile even if you end up paying more than you budgeted.

Figure out what is most important to you and what is the least important and you should be able to come up with a budget you can afford to have the wedding of your dreams. Ex: you may want to spend less on invitations or flowers but spend more on a band or photographer.

i would say try looking at some other bands and if you still love the original one then go with it. maybe you'll find another one you love just as much for less money and then you'll still be happy :)

Re: Is it worth it?
Now that I'm looking back on my wedding, I'm glad that I set some limits. We did go way over our original (naive) budget. I got everything I really wanted & I'm thrilled with every penny I spent & have no regrets, BUT I'm glad I questioned my own judgement on a few things & shopped around or made different choices. I absolutely loved everyone of my vendors-but I selected them from many. Money does play a big factor but for me as a general rule I like to feel good about people I work with. I was thrilled to pay each of my vendors because I knew they worked hard & delivered what they promised. I think you need to have a good gut feeling about a vendor as important as your band. My advice-shop around.

Re: Is it worth it?
My FH had his heart set on a band, but once we found out the avg. price we changed our minds. We just REALLLY cannot afford it!!! We'd rather spend it on the hall, music and photos. We're already thinking of scrapping the video (which im very upset about!!!).

Re: Is it worth it?
I think we all have different opinions on what is more important to us and the justification of the money that is spent. To me, thousands of dollars on a band was not worth it. So I am spending $800 for a DJ who my FH and I really clicked with, which freed up some extra money to invite more people, which was more important to me.
But you should do what makes you happy so that, in the long run, you don't have any regrets about your day

I think you should shop around a bit more. Even if you end up booking Hank Lane, you will do it with the knowledge of being well informed and knowing that you are getting the best for what you are paying.

Annieb, as you know I am going through the band thing myself. I would say..keep looking. After a thorough search you feel like you can't live without Hank Lane then go with them. There are many good bands out there which I think can still provide the perfect music for the perfect wedding for you. LOL
