Our photography package is great and right at our price point, but for $500 extra, we can get a 12x12 leather flush mount album with 80 photos and 100 thank you cards. Originally, we were going to DIY the album and thank yous (this is how we were able to stay within budget), but as I think about it and research different sites (snapfish, picaboo, shutterfly, etc), the album that we want (leather, flush mount, 80 pages) is expensive to DIY, prob around $400. Is it worth it to just pay the $500 extra to get the album and thank yous? The album included in our current package is a 12x12 pressbook with 50 pictures.
I thought it would be cheaper to DIY....is there a site that I'm missing?

For the extra $100 I'd let them do it. Who did you end up choosing for you photographer?

I think its so worth and extra 100 dollars! You won't have to worry about doing it yourself and if it doesn't come out right. Thats a lot for only 500 extras bucks. Whos your photographer?

DO you need both? i was almost in the same position. I had bought the basic package, I wanted more but I didnt want the entire next package up. So I talked to my photog and she gave me a great price for the few things I wanted from the bigger package.

That was what we were debating. The album that is included is really nice, but it is less images than the leather book and the pages aren't as sturdy as the leather book. Also, I feel like thank yous are not as hard as an album to DIY.....but on the other hand, I know they will do a great job on both, and I won't have to worry about DIYing....I think we will go for it. We will end up with a nicer album with more images, great thank yous, and peace of mind!
Thanks ladies ;)

It sounds like you've made the best choice.!!!! You'll also be happier not having that added pressure of DIY'ing your album and thank you notes.

Re: is it worth it?
I ordered my album from my photog and I DIY'd the parent albums from both sides. They came out gorgeous from shutterfly, HOWEVER, I could not make pics bigger then 5 by 7 because of the resolution of the pictures I got from my photog. At that point, I didn't care, because the books after coupon codes cost $80 total.
So my rec is to go with the upgrade for the thank you's and maybe your album, due to possible resolution issues.

Good advice! This is something I didn't think of. Thank you!

If that's what you really want, I say go for it. It's only $100 more & you wont have to worry about it.
