Is it worth the $ ....

Original post by Danielle&Scott

to have your make-up done professionally the day of your wedding? I like the way I do my own make-up and have gotten compliments, but I am not sure if I should get it done professionally. Is it worth the money? I was thinking about spending the money and brand new make-up products and doing it myself. At least I will have the make-up for the HM too. Any opinions?

I definately recommend the airbrushing... it doesn't budge. Call Jennifer from Fairytale... She did my make up & I loved it!

I'd like to recommend Lynda Lane - She's only $25 an hour for regular and $35 for airbrushing, and she's great, I think.

I would consider getting it done because in the end it's a really important day, and a really good makeup person can work wonders.

I never like how mine comes out when I have it done. The foundation ALWAYS looks orange-y and my lips always look very strange in the lip liner. But, because I'm nervous that it won't stay all day if I do it myself, I'm going to go for a trial to see if I can tell them exactly what I want, but if I don't like it, I'm going to just go buy some good make up and do it myself.

One thought I had--if I have someone come to the house #1 it's sooooo expensive--I think $100 for make-up is ridiculous!!! and #2 you can't really 'fix' it if the make-up artist is still at your house while pics are being taken and you end up looking bad in the pictures.

nsgraham,

Thanks so much for the information. You look beautiful. Did you decide which colors you are going with? Is she comng to your house the day of your wedding?

Thanks,
Danielle

i think it is most definitely worth the money! you do not want to be stressed on the big day.

i tried booking with JN but she was already booked for my day. i have trials scheduled with denise from angel eyes, oksana, and marie katz. my first trial is tomorrow with denise. i will post pics tomorrow!

Hey Danielle,

My sister went for a trial, and she usually never wears makeup. They plastered the stuff on her face and when you looked at her up really close it was weird, but when the pictures came out she looked beautiful. They said it's because when you take pictures, if you apply just a base coat of makeup yourself it usually does not show up, and the professionals are the ones who know how to do it. (try jen from fairy tale!).

Thanks Christine. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I e-mailed them, but maybe I will just call. I didn't realize they are right in Merrick.
