to have your make-up done professionally the day of your wedding? I like the way I do my own make-up and have gotten compliments, but I am not sure if I should get it done professionally. Is it worth the money? I was thinking about spending the money and brand new make-up products and doing it myself. At least I will have the make-up for the HM too. Any opinions?

because you're going to have professional photos taken, I think you should go with a professional makeup artist. keep in mind, there are other elements involved with wedding photos, such as lighting, so your everyday makeup application might not suffice. You might need that extra 'umf' JMO
ETA: In a nutshell, YES - I think it's worth is to have a professional do your makeup.

I think if you can make sure it holds up pretty well all day and take trial shots and pictures and you love the way it comes out.. then no its not worth the extra money!

Re: Is it worth the $ ....
I think it depends. I am terrible at glamming myself up and makeup easily comes off me. So that is why I am opting for air-brush. I feel it's a once in a lifetime event and that I am worth it!
But, if you feel comfortable with putting your own makeup ......than go for it!!!

Thanks ladies for all the opinions. If I do decide to go for it, I am going to go for the airbrushing. I contacted a few people, some are already booked. Can you recommend anyone? And if you have pictures that would be great.
Thanks, Danielle

I'd say yes, because I know I will never be able to do my makeup as well as a professional, and I want to look my absolute best on my wedding day!

Re: Is it worth the $ ....
well, I wouldn't know but when my sister was getting ready for her wedding, she went to tons of make-up artists (expensive ones too) and none of them seemed to really give her the right colors. They made her look older!!! and they just pounded that make-up on like crazy. One night in her room her friend just started playing around with make-up and turns out she did an awesome job so what they did was buy really, really good make-up and her friend wound up putting it on and best part of it was it lasted all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I would say that it would be worth the money if you really have no one who can do a really nice, professional-looking and FREE job.

I agree 100%. I took prof pics in Aug and the amount of makeup i had on was unreal (as per avatar) but as you see it doesn't look that much.

try Jillian (Gorgeous Faces) she's really good! I had my trial already and was VERY happy
yes...professionals know the techniques that look good for the camera and that will stay on all day
but if you do decide to do your own...remember...you need more...for the pictures...to last...to preven t shininess
do lots of trials yourself...

i am looking into it b/c the day will be stressful enough and i know how aggrivated i get when my hair or makeup doesn't look the way i'd like it to when it is just a regular day. however, treat yourself to the makeup anyway! it's fun! not like we have the money, but still, after all this, we deserve it!

this is a huge reason to put it into someone else's hands...
a friend told em to go to macy's at the MAC booth adn they are great..the makeup stays on all days and stays perfect.....i believe she said it was $100..but i havent tried yet to give my personal opinion..but its definately worth it!
