Is it wrong for me not to do a hotel block?

Need opinions!
Our wedding is a day wedding and its about 45 min away for all our guests, including us. We're not getting a hotel room because we live together in our own place so we figured why waste the money, why worry about who's going to watch the dog, and we can just have the wedding party back at our place if we wanted to.
Is it wrong that I'm not reaching out to a hotel close to our venue to help out our guests? I really don't think it's necessary. We have only a handful of oot guests and they usually stay with family when they come in.
What do you guys think?

I have been concerning myself with hotel blocks as well and this is what we are doing. Our immediate families and we are staying at a hotel near the venue the night before and the night of the wedding. We blocked out 10 rooms at this hotel but only have to guarantee 5, which will easily happen for us. We don't have many OOT guests either, so we should have enough rooms leftover for those who need them. We'll keep a close eye on it and if it seems that we are running out of rooms, we'll call and add more to the block.

If you don't think you can guarantee a certain number of rooms, what you can do is include a card with your invites with a list of hotels in the area for people to stay in if they need to. We are doing this because we are staying in an expensive place and realize that some people may not want to pay to stay there, so while we won't do a block at another hotel, we'll let people know of other places in the area.

We currently live together but thought it might be nice to stay out the first night. We also have some oot guest but most will stay with family.

My issue is that I have been having a hard time finding a hotel block that will not make us guarantee most of the rooms, with barely a discount or shuttle option. Can I ask what hotel you are staying at?

I'm was wondering the same thing bc our venue is 5 mins from us. it's in bethpage and we are in farmingdale with the exception if my bridesmaid that lives in commack everyone else is no more then 15 mins away. idk that our guest will use it bc we r so close. I definitely planned in getting one of we were further from home. 45 mind it's alot I would get one personally. but I know our friends and cousins would use itand want it.

yeah i mean our wedding ends at 6pm i cant imagine needing to stay at a hotel as a guest. thanks lori0413 for that suggestion to include a card of nearby hotels, i guess that would help if anyone does want a hotel!

The only reason why I would suggest doing a hotel block is because your guest will get a discounted price if you do one. I would find a hotel near by that doesn't require you to guarantee anything. I think it's a nice gesture but by no means is it necessary.

This!! I was up in the air bc I did have a few OOT coming in. Some stayed with family and 2 people booked a room. However, I did not have to guarantee anything or put a cc down. I used Courtyard Marriott.
