Is it wrong to try to estimate...........
how much each guest will give as a gift? I know that my FI and I are overly generous, so I'm trying to plan a budget based on practical assumptions - and not the way we give gifts. How much is reasonable to expect that each guest might give (on average, per head) - if that's not too obnixious a question!

My father, of all people, is trying to so the same thing. drives me nuts. Only cause, well, its our guests. Because people are so different, you may just want to sit back and try to make things nice, but affordable. Sounds hard I know, but so far it is working for me.

Waste of time...I agree with everyone...There are some people that are going to REALLY surprise you in both good & bad ways! Don't be too shocked when opening cards

Re: Is it wrong to try to estimate...........
That's so true, because the person you think that is going to give somethng very good, may surprise you and not meet your expectations, just don't take it too serious..that's all, because you set yourself up for disappointment.

Re: Is it wrong to try to estimate...........
I absolutely agree. When it comes to engagement gifts my FH's homebound (adult onset polio) who doesn't have any money sent us a check for $50., his yuppie sister who has money coming out of her ears... nothing, a family friend who I haven't seen in almost ten years sent a gorgeous Waterford bowl. It's the people who you expect to be generous won't be and some who have no money are the most generous.
We budgeted our wedding in expectation of no gifts... just how much we would want to spend as if we were getting nothing.

Re: Is it wrong to try to estimate...........
No, it's not wrong. But you have to figure that some will give a lot and some will only give a little. I wouldn't plan your budget around it.Welcome New Vendors
