is my must take photos list too long?

I just printed out my must take photos list and it is like three pages long...is that too much?? its very detailed because I am a little controlling i guess (ok i admit it ) how long is everyone else's list if you have one

A photog might take offense to that since you're telling him/her how to do their job. My list of must-take photos is quite short and it's mostly just really unique pictures that I hardly ever get to see done. If you have the basics on that list (cutting the cake, gazing into each others eyes, close up of the rings) then I'd cut it down at least a little. These photogs have been in the wedding business way longer than *most* of us have. HTH!

yea i am using a freelance photographer who is just starting her business so that's why i guess i went a little over the top just so she would get a sense of what i like the mix of edgy and traditional. not like she has to get all of them just a round-about way of presenting what i am looking for....i hope she won't take offense.

Okay, that's a little different then! Then I'd probably make my list detailed as well. I bet she'll actually appreciate the long list! I was thinking more of the usual photogs like Duet and Patken.

i felt like such an anal bridezilla for making the list but i just want to be able to give some direction..i dont' want to complain after the wedding if the pics are what i wanted

If the photographer you are using is a freelance one, YES make a must take list with as many as you want. You want to be sure she captures the shots you want but dont restrict her too much though.

im using an established company, and honestly my list is crazy as well..but that's because im very ocd about everything-and honestly for the amount of money im paying (remember-they are working for YOU) honestly they can at least humor me

I have a huge list, as well! I wouldn't worry about offending them. I want to make sure I have all the shots that are important to me. I think it's worse not getting the pictures that you want. Just like another person said, it's your money, you hired them. They work for you.

Three pages is a lot! You do not want a photographer going down a check list all day long. I would really try to limit it to a page. If you want to give your photographer direction maybe you should consider having a meeting with her where you discuss the style of photos you are looking for. A short meeting will give you the confidence that your photographer understands what you are looking for.

I think 3 pages is too much.

You dont want the photog worrying about getting all these pix and not doing his/her artisti thing.

Plus, with 3 pages of photo's you are going to be taking photos for hours...just to get a must take list.

I would say just look at it and or discuss with the photog.

I can see that list becoming a source of stress during the wedding. You dont want to be stressing over 'did we do all 3 pages of photo's'.

but what it comes down to is you have to be happy and do whats right for you!

ohh no i do not expect the list to be something that the photographer will check off one at at time during the wedding. i intend it to be a list that during a meeting, the photographer and i will go over the list together and that way, there is a strategy or a direction that is gone over. i have a few photos that i think she really MUST take but the others are written down so there is a little guidance. i do not want the more traditional all posed shots so that is the idea that the list conveys

I def want my photographer to capture the candid moments ... i hate staged photos....

so at most ill have 5-6 must take shots... other than that.. if he/she really knows what they are doing I think 3pages is a bit much... you are going too stress them out.....

One of the top LI photographers told me that this past Friday - you def take away their joy/passion from their jobs by doing this...i told agree with him

Yes, its your $$ ..

Yes you hired them but if you doubt their work by any means.. Find a photographer you trust...

just my opinion...
