I say it really depends sometimes in the beginning of the month it is warm and other times the weather just plain stinks. My birthday is the second week in October and this year it was quite chilly, but the year before we went out to dinner and sat outside on the water.
My parents got married at the end of october (27 years ago) and my mom talks about how warm that day was to throw them off two years ago I had their 25th anniversairy party Oct 4th and it was very cold and raining.
I say its hit and miss.

Last year my friend got married on Oct. 29th and it was chilly - I think early Oct. you have a better chance of it being on the warmer side.

Early October, the weather is still nice, my cousin got married early October i wore sandals one year, the weather was great.

It's nice all month, about 10 degrees warmer in the beginning, then the temp gets cooler about 5 to 10 degrees. The Old farmers Almanac has all that info. We found it very useful in planning our month and day!!

Honestly...you can't ever tell. I was married this past October. The 30th. I had an outdoor ceremony. It was warm and sunny. Gorgeous day! Even when we left the bride getting married that evening had an outdoor ceremony. A couple weeks before it was raining non-stop. It was horrible this past year. Cold damp. It's hit or miss.
The year before I remember the end of October very rainy except for Halloween. Halloween it was actually HOT. We did our STD magnet pics that day and couldn't get over how warm it was.
The only thing with the month of October is it's hit or miss. You never know with the hurricane season what you'll find, but your wedding date should be fine. I think it's usually the middle of October that gets hit the worst on LI...if I remember correctly.

yeah u never know.....i remember distinctly that this halloween was almost 80 degrees!

my wedding is the day before yours, and I've been told that my hall has done many outdoor ceremonies that time of year and the weather has been good for it, if that gives you any indication.

the day that u are getting married is warmer than the latter part of the month.
