I didn't even know a PS3 was coming out.
Call Electronics Boutique (or 'EB') .. any of the locations should have an answer for you .. but I recently found the Broadway Mall store extremely helpful .. the guy's name was 'Jim' I believe.

You could probably put it on hold somewhere .. those things may be very, very hard to find when they actually do come out .. put a hold on it now .. EB might do that .. and give him a little box with a note in it for Christmas.

Xbox is next month Nov 22nd...sold out pretty much every where so you would have to go to the store and wait on line for hours at places that don't pre-sale (best buy, circut city, etc..)
Playstation is Late Spring of 2006. There are no current presales for this cause of no date and price of the system.
Both systems will be good but these consoles are becomeing more money...
PS3 might be 500 bucks when released Xbox360 is 300 or 400 depending on which setup you get

500?!?! I remember pre-ordering the PS2 for $300 and wondering if I was paying too much to have it before everyone else! What makes the ps3 worth $500???

well..thats the thing..sony is trying to set it up to drop the price. that are gonna take a big hit if the price stays there. that got toooo many gagdets and gizmos
but the technogolgy hasn't been that great to justify the price. (IMO) and i'm a serious gamer too...500 is pushing my limit if you ask me

Yeah, that is a bit crazy--not on PS3! Maybe half that I'd spend.....but not $500----

true...
but keep in mind, Sony likes to intergate everything. ps3 will be more then something that plays a game. It will act as a media center, playing dvd's, streaming music from the internet, being able to play HD-technoloigies etc.... just dont think its a machine that plays games....

If you already have PlayStation .. I doubt you'd want to consider switching to X-Box .. but maybe that's just me .. if you upgrade to the new PlayStation, you can still play your previous PS games .. if you switch to XB .. you can't use the games you already have.
I'd still call a place like EB and see what info, suggestions, advice, etc. they can offer you.

I'll reiterate what I've posted in the past about PS3. DH works in the industry....despite the launch date, the system IS NOT READY to be launched. The technology they are using is not WITHOUT FLAWS....even the PS2 STILL has kinks in it.
DH highly recommends looking into the XBox 360 coming in November.
EB has been taken over by GameSTop Inc, so I would not go to EB right now with the transition they will be going through. DH Also said that GameSTop is NO LONGER taking reserves for XBox 360 since launch is in a month.

Maybe I'm just over-tired and taking that post the wrong way .. but it seems there is serious attitude against the PS.
I've owned both PS & PS2 and I have never come across any 'kinks.'
And for the record I have never used an X-Box, so I can't speak about that system.
As for whether to go PS or X-Box .. it's all personal preference .. I know I would NOT want X-Box after having invested so much money & time in games already purchased for PS systems.
If someone wants a PS .. you don't run out and get them an X-Box. .. At least not without talking to them first.
