Original post by KarinAmanda

bad for you? calorie wise (rice)? when I eat sushi I tell myself its ok b/c its fish but how good/bad is it really? calorie wise, fat wise etc?

is it ok to eat 1-2 times a week (on a diet?) what should I stay away from?

Sushi isn't bad for you unless you are getting something like the Philadephia roll, which has cream cheese or Fried tempura rolls. The amount of rice on the rolls or sushi pieces is minimal. If you need soy sauce, try asking for Low-Sodium, it's the salt content that retains water, but unless you are drowning the pieces in the soy, you don't have to worry about using it either. I'm on a diet and eat sushi at least once a week.

good to know, though sometimes I add 'crunch' tempora flakes to my rolls for that added crunch. Not that its the same amount as in a tempora dish - its still added calories I could do without

Yes it is still added calories!

I also eat a ton of edamame when we eat sushi! People order it with brown rice -- I don't like brown rice so i eat the white and I get low sodium soy sauce. I try and stay away from the mayo sauces -- but when i do get them they are so minimal I don't really worry to much about it!

omg I'm ADDICTED to edamame

The spicy rolls are made with a FATTENING sauce - it's like a spicy mayo.

I do that all the time. Sometimes we put a little garlic salt in with them -- soooo good!
