Re: is sushi ...
I think the soy sauce is bad for you... Retains water and all that.
I think it's OK to eat it, just stay away from soy.

Re: is sushi ...
I think it depends on the type of sushi.
Are you eating sashimi or rolls? mmmm, I could so go for a spicy tuna roll right now! I might have to ditch the lunch I brought and go grab some sushi!
I bet Ron would know the answer to your question... that man LIVES for sushi!

I think it's all pretty good for you. I just looked up sushi in my Weight Watchers book and most kinds are only like, 2 points for 6 pieces.
Take that for what you will....but I think it's okay. lol
ETA: I agree with jen about the soy.....retaining water = not okay. lol

Actually crabmeat is very low in fat and calories. It's the avocado that's high in fat (good fat) and has a lot of calories.

yea, crabmeat is very low in calories/fat BUT very high in salt. I love Kani salad. Also, I always have crab meat at my house (the imitation stuff, same as crabstick at sushi places) because it is soooo low in calories. A whole cup is like 75 calories so I snack on it at home. But, the salt, thats a problem for me and I KNOW i consume wayyy to much salt

Re: is sushi ...
My uncle used to eat sushi and miso soup for lunch when he was on a diet and he lost a lot of weight (doing WW + lots of exercise).
I think it's on the healthy side but watch out for the salt.
I dont really like sushi - I just like sticky rice w/ ginger and soy sauce so I'm sure THAT isnt too healthy

Kappy Maki (cucumber roll) 4 medium pieces or 6 small pieces (2 points)
Maki (sliced raw fish over rice) 4 pieces (2 points)
Nori Maki (raw fish and rice rolled with seaweed) 4 medium or 6 small (2 points)

Re: is sushi ...
Sushi isn't bad for you unless you are getting something like the Philadephia roll, which has cream cheese or Fried tempura rolls. The amount of rice on the rolls or sushi pieces is minimal. If you need soy sauce, try asking for Low-Sodium, it's the salt content that retains water, but unless you are drowning the pieces in the soy, you don't have to worry about using it either. I'm on a diet and eat sushi at least once a week.

good to know, though sometimes I add 'crunch' tempora flakes to my rolls for that added crunch. Not that its the same amount as in a tempora dish - its still added calories I could do without

I also eat a ton of edamame when we eat sushi! People order it with brown rice -- I don't like brown rice so i eat the white and I get low sodium soy sauce. I try and stay away from the mayo sauces -- but when i do get them they are so minimal I don't really worry to much about it!
