Is there a doctor in the house???? UPDATED

Original post by MrsStefan

I dont know what is wrong with me. About a week ago I started to feel random beating of my heart....like POUNDING...but only for like 1 or 2 beats and then it would go back to normal. I dismissed it thinking it was nothing.

But, last night it started again and hasn't stopped. It' been beating randomly and HARD throughout the day. And when I walk..even short distances (from the kitchen to the bathroom) I feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest. Could this be anxiety?? I don't really feel anxious. My mom is freaking out and wants me to get my arse to the doctor but I have a meeting in the morning that I can't miss. Anyone know what this could be??

UPDATE: I went to the Dr. today. He did an EKG which was turned out to be normal. The Dr.said that he had some concerns and he referred me to a cardiologist. I'll be making an appointment tomorrow morning. He told me lay off soda/coffe...which I dont have that much of to begin with...and he said that I have to go to the ER if I feel my heart racing for long periods of time. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for your concern!!!

Go to the doc. Then if he says it's nothing with your heart, you'll have less to worry about. No more anxiety!

I've had times where I get dizzy and even passed out, usually after just standing up after sitting for a while. Doc told me I had anemia, which was confirmed with a blood test and low blood pressure.

There are a lot of things that can bring on dizziness or heart palpiations. Some serious, some not so serious. Only way to find out if it's physical or psychological is to get to the doc. The $20 copay is worth your peace of mind. And ours.

same thing was happening to me this past fall. i went to my regular doctor and she referred me to a cardiologist. he did stress tests, made me where heart monitors, etc. only to tell me that there's nothing wrong with me and that it must just be stress from wedding planning. that's when i hired a DOC! but i felt much better going to the doctor and having a professional tell me that everything was okay. it doesnt hurt, just go get a check up! FEEL BETTER!

i am a registered ICU nurse. it sound to me like its anxiety attack from stress. Heart palpatations are scary i know. i have experience them for my self.. you should stay away from any caffiene, smoking, coffee.. and if it happens.. you should lay down.. and if it feels really out of control you should count ur pulse to see how many beats per minute your heart is. and go on from there. and if it persists you should call your doctor.
