Is there a person or thing that really sticks out during your commute?

Is there a person or thing that really sticks out during your commute?

For me it's a woman I see on my train ride home - she always sits next to me and I called her the Crazy Colored Pants Lady. To my knowledge, she doesn't own black pants. I've seen her in orange, lime green and today leopard pants. I love seeing her everyday to see what she's wearing.

For me it's that huge Citbank building right before you go in the tunnel into nyc. I have always hated it and it gives me the creeps!

There's this chick that drives a white Altima with tint and has a Tinkerbell sticker on her back window and some personalized license plate. I see her almost every day - whether I take the LIE or the Southern State to work.

When I was commuting it was always when the conductor would say 'Wood-siyde' like it was four syllables!

'Only the foyst faw caws will platform at Wood-si-yde!'

Ah, but that was before the automated voice and the completely useless and impractical new trains.

I have a few since my commute involves a bus, two subways and a walk... (not through best of neighborhoods sometimes)

1- the guy that usually sits next to me on the bus..
STOP IT! your breath smells, i want to say heres a toothbrush use it in the morning, and stop tryign to talk to me, i wanna listen to my XM and doze off for 30 min.. its 630 am leave me alone!

2- the guy who walks around 42nd and 8th near Port auth with garbage bag ensamble.. he's been aroudn for years.. if i dont see him or hear his werido singing.. id assume he died! nice staple...

3- the old guy who rides the subway with me.. if he's there.. i know im on time.. (he is in the same building doesnt work at same company).. i have no idea who he is, just know his face and long trench coat

4- all the people who live on this one particular street I walk down in brooklyn (specialy during summer)... LEAVE ME ALONE... cat calls are great -dont get me wrong makes me feel pretty -but nasty sneering people with boomboxes out their windows dancing all up in the streets.. apparently with no jobs ... just aggrevate me!!!

hmm therse plenty more dont get me wrong.. but there yah go! hahah my rants/noticeable people haha
thanks for letting me get that out

I wasn't thinking in terms of ranting - but if you've got something/someone that irks you EVERYDAY, that applies

Every day that I take the express bus in (when I go to the gym before work), there is this lady, I call her the 'no-seat' lady, b/c when I asked to sit next to her, she literally acted like she couldn't hear me, and I've seen her do that to other people. When it gets really crowded she has to move her stuff, and scowls.

On a regular basis, I'd have to say the LIRR commuters who get on the 7 train at Hunterspoint Avenue. They get on the subway, don't use their subway voices, and don't move to the middle of the train.

I get on at the stop after theirs and push my way through every day.

The car -playing old men!
They annoy & amuse me at the same time, with their love of commuting.

And then there is nasty-face. She gets on at my train station & works in the building I used to, so I saw her a lot--on the platform, on the train, in GC, on the shuttle, on the 1, in the building. . .but I have never spoken to her b/c she always look like as soon as she opens her mouth a complaint is going to come flying out.

Is is scary how much I learn on t he train. I recognized a guy in a retaurant from thr train & started telling my ILs all about him, yet I've never actually spoken to him.

Citibank employees call it 'The Big Green Monster' or so I've been told. My dad has been on assignment there, and my friend's dad works there.

I love the muslim store on my way to work. It has these signs that were clearly made on Microsoft word in the windows - some with quotes from the Q'uran, some advertising products for thicker beards, and my favorite - the one advertising the Tommy Hilfiger Beyonce perfume (don't forget, it was done up in MS Word!!) I love the juxtaposition.

Also, I get to walk past the Grand Opera House, which is a lovely sight.

The girl Suzanne from Biggest Loser 2 lives in my neighborhood and her house is right at a traffic light. I always sit at the light watching her blue Biggest Loser flag blow in the wind and I wonder if she can do it I can do it!...
So I put down my hot pocket and pick up my water!

I have a pretty 'boring' commute compared to when I commuted from Farmingdale to Newark every day.

But.... I wanted to say this to ShortBride - There was a guy on the LIRR train I used to take that would do that, and one day I finally got sooooooooooo annoyed that I just stood there and kept saying 'excuse me, excuse me, excuse me...HELLO, could you please move your stuff?'

I mean sheesh!!! It's freakin' rush hour!

I work right around there and although it's scary looking-they have a great food court!!!!

I dont use public transportation for my commute, but these replies are funny, my favorite are the 'scary Citibank building' and the 'Biggest Loser Flag'.

Too funny.

The card playing men are too much. I'm trying to sleep and they are shuffling their cards on their makeshift board. UGH!

Today I was sitting on the end of a 3 seater in one of the new trains(useless). A bunch of people got on and couldn't find seats so they proceeded to stand over me in the aisle and chat the whole way into Penn from Hicksville about everything. I know more about their personal lives than I know about my own!

Very claustrophobic to be sandwiched at the end of the row and have these people stand over me talking the whole way...it's 7am folks..shut up!

When it comes to people like this, after saying excuse me twice I would take their stuff and dump it on the floor.

I did this once and the ladies yelled at me and I told her 'well I said excuse me and when you didn't move your stuff I figured it was trash'.

Another thing is the people that come onto the train and stand right above you and 'STAND' on your feet. Again this one time this guy kept sliding his feet into mine trying to get me to move my feet so I kicked him. He was ruining a really nice pair of shoes. (yes I can be really mean at time but WHATEVER, I may not be entitled to much in this life but I am entitled to my space)
