Re: Is there a 'rainy' season in Hawaii????
hi!
I'm from Hawaii (Honolulu, on the Island of Oahu), so I can most definitely help you!
Generally, there's no difference in the weather all year round. The temp is typically a comfortable 85 degrees -- comfy b/c there are light tradewinds blowing all day, so you just feel warm and are caressed by a soft breeze. It does rain a little every day, esp in the valleys near the mountains (the news will call these windward and mauka showers -- mauka means 'toward the mountains' in Hawaiian). These are the showers that create Hawaii's famous rainbows! :)
Once in a while, we have weather from the South, which we refer to as 'Kona Weather' (not b/c it is at all like Kona, it's just that Kona is south of Honolulu). This type of weather is the dreaded icky, warm and steamy, still, no wind, blech kinda thing. Usually happens once a year or so, lasts for a few days. The good news is, as yucky as it is, it's no where near NY in the summer!
In the 'winter' months it can be slightly more rainy, but truthfully, it can rain for a week at anytime during the year.
November will be quite nice anyway b/c there will be fewer tourists then!
I hope you enjoy your trip to my home. It really is a wonderful place.
