i was planning on do the tree branch type centerpieces with tea lights and maybe little ghosts hanging off of the branches.. dont know if thats too much? with rose petals all around the table.. brown linens.. favors being trick or treat bags. or maybe those little pumpkins that you fill candy in.. or maybe even big pumpkins, sticking candy and other things in it.

I think you can make a Halloween Theme classy...
BM dresses that are black with orange bows Cute candy apple favors (There are really cute ones under Disney themed weddings.) I love the idea of carves pumpkin centerpieces maybe surrounded with autumn type flowers. mini pumpkins and gourds for placecards.
Absolutely love your CP idea. So cute!

i love your ideas.... especially the trick or treat bags. i would decorate the tables with pumpkins, mums, squash.... all that fally stuff... which is much cheaper too! sounds fun... . one thing i wouldnt' do is orange dresses... i went to a fall wedding where the dresses were orange... they looked like walking pumpkins!

when i was looking into venues... i came across a location that was having a wedding the saturday before halloween. i felt that it was pretty classy.
there are a lot of things that you can do. you can, obviously, use things like fall leaves, dried wheat, pumpkins, gourds, apples, and pears to balance it out and to not have it be overkill.
i'm using carved pumpkins for decorations. you can get the artificial pumpkins at craft stores on clearance after halloween. i bought a few and then carved them myself. it's not that hard. i did 'i do', our wedding date, 'fall in love', a dancing bride and groom. you can either do them yourself or you can buy them already done.
you can use a 'holloween' font for all your printed stuff.
black is always a 'classy' color.
i think this is very do-able.
i was thinking of doing it. the only reason i didn't was because we ended up choosing a day at the very start of the month.

We are doing this. Our CP are going to be pumpkins with mums in them-one of my customers can get me the whole set=up at $5!!!-own their own landscaping company. We are having the mini pumpkins as our placecards, sticking the actual place card in the stem on top.
My girls are wearing Bill Levkoff-Black and/or Brown-with some kind of orange/red flowers.
We'll have candleabras on the mantle.
A candy buffet.

i agree, she shouldn't have any say in what your wedding is like...it's not like you are using her exact ideas....
do what you want, not what she wants!

Re: is there a way
well here's the thing, she got engaged first (but fh and i were planning our wedding a long time before her) and always wanted an oct. date and figured we'd have a fall/halloween theme. then she got engaged and set the date for oct. i emailed her to see if she'd be offended if i had my wedding 2 weeks after hers and she said no as long as our themes dont conflict and that i should strictly use halloween cause she's doing fall (like every other sept-nov bride!) i dunno. i do think its stupid but i dont want to have the same stuff at my wedding and at hers. blah. i dont know what to do.

I can understand someone not wanting you to copy what they are doing but, a fall theme is pretty general and there are so many different things you can do with it! We had two friends last year who got married around Christmas (and they are friends with each other) and they both incorporated Christmas into their weddings and you wouldn't say that they took each other's ideas... Both weddings were completely different. As long as you don't have the same exact centerpieces and favors, people who attend both weddings won't even realize!

Yo, which one of your friends is saying this? Kimmie, do you really care? How many people will be at both her and your wedding? Do a fall theme if you want, but I don't see it as being 'you.'
If you do a Halloween wedding, (you're totally stealing my old theme, btw ) I will help you with the ton of ideas that I was going to go with. But make sure it's not too NBC because that's more your thing than Rickypants' thing.

Instead of rose petals, I would use fall leaves. Pumpkins all arond Tree branches for a centerpiece with hanging mulberry & ivy Bridesmaids in brown with maybe an orange ribbon Table cloths in brown
candy corn spread all over the tables as decor votive placecard holders
