a Wedding photographer for $1500? I want engagement photos and a book for myself with at least 70 photos. Maybe the parents books, not necessity. I don't need thank you cards. One enlargement as well.
Every where I call is over $2500.

I know its terrible but im thinking of not have a photographer. Part of me would rather have a photobooth. Im afraid i will regret it but i also dont want to miss a minute of my wedding getting pulled out for photos. Really having a hard time with this one. And really $2500 for proofs and a few pics. I just cant deal. I am in the wrong business.
You will definitely regret it! Even getting someone starting out with their own business is better than no photographer at all!
You should post on the Vendors Helping Brides board. State your budget there and see who bites.

I used Lighthouse for my wedding a month ago. They were absolutely wonderful! Our pics came out amazing (check my album). Also, I believe they have an office based in queens somewhere (not too far from Astoria!) So they should be able to work with you! Good Luck :)

If you're willing to do some research, there are people who are just starting out who are willing to do a lot for you very cheap to help build up their portfolio. They won;t have 1000 reviews on here like TP or Duet but make sure you see their work and judge for yourself. Just thinking that may be an affordable option and I agree with the other girls... I really think everyone should have a photog!
