My response date is October 1. I was thinking of sending out a little note to those who have not responded by the 24th of this month a little reminder in the mail.
A lot of family is in Florida and it would be a ton of work to get their phone numbers and call. A letter would be sooooooooo much easier and in the midst of this FH and I are supposed to be moving into our new home. I also haven't spoken to half these people in years so I'm a little hesitant to call.
Is the letter tacky or should I just start collecting phone numbers now?
Thanks ladies!

I personally wouldn't send it. The reponses card says that they have until 10/1 to respond, you should give them until then.

I wouldn't do it either...they have until the 1st to respond. Hopefully most of them will by then.

Re: Is this a bad idea????
My response date was September 1 after getting the mail on 9/2 and got none, I had my mom call her family and my FFIL call his family. I am STILL waiting for responses from my FFIL's family. How lazy can some people be?? There is a stamp on it already, you either know you are coming or your not!! Sorry, I am a little angry about people who don't respond ontime...

Maybe you can have the person who invited them (whose ever family they are) to call and say, yea we are so excited about the wedding, hope you can come, o by the way, did you send your response card in yet?

Re: Is this a bad idea????
I too would wait. My mom is handling this & she did ask family members before the rsvp date rolled around, altho I didn't think it was right.
Also think I'd take this time to gather phone numbers & call folks (& arrange to have someone else do so, since you're so busy) starting 10/2. Not trying to be funny, but if they don't send in a response card w/a stamp on it why would they pay attention to another mailing on the subject?
Oh yeah - I got a ton of responses the day before the rsvp due date - maybe you will too!

Re: Is this a bad idea????
I would not. The RSVP is there for a reason. If you wanted the responses earlier, than you should have put an earlier date. I think it's too pushy.

Re: Is this a bad idea????
That is why for e-party we put RSVP 1 week before we need to give final payment. 2 weeks before final head count. Gave us time to call un-responders. (lucked out we do not have to give final payment/head count until this sat - 1 week before party)

Re: Is this a bad idea????
as long as the letter isn't pushy but just friendly (like a previous post suggested) i would think it would be okay.
you can word it like 'we hope to hear from you soon that you'll be coming to celebrate this day with us- we will be very excited to see you at the wedding on (the date). '
or something like that----
edited to say- i would send them out on oct 2nd though
if your family members can call their own guests on the 2nd - i would think that would be the best way to go about it. it isn't your responsibility to call these guests up
