WHEN TTC IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS BUY THE KITS AND START CHARTING AND ALL OF THAT OR DO YOU FIRST JUST TRY TO CONCIEVE WITHOUT ALL OF THAT? THIS BOARD IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD OF SO MUCH WORK GOING INTO TTC. I WILL BE TTC THE END OF THE YEAR AND I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHERE TO START.

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
I just started TTC seriously this month and we are just having fun! I'm not going to start charting after a few months.
good luck!

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
I think the more stressed out you are, the harder it will be to get pregnant. I always tell my friends TTC to just check the 'mucus' (sorry TMI) because that is what I did and I have 2 kids!

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
I'm probably skipping the charting this month. I'll just take these vitamins that will help my short luteal phase. I mainly just charted the first month to see how my cycle goes... so I can know if I don't ovulate (i do) or i have short LP, which I did.

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
I think it's just what you prefer. We have been TTC for 3 months and this is the first month I am using OPKs and charting BBT because I wanted to be more exact time wise when it was good to get pregnant.

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
It depends how quickly you want to become pregnant once you start TTC. We just 'had fun' when we started and figured if that didn't work after months we could start getting more serious by charting and stuff. It happend after two months on it's own
Good Luck!

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
The two times it happened for me were the times when I gave up thinking about it and checking anything because I was convinced we couldn't get pregnant that month (first time, DH was away for 5 days when I thought I was ovulating - WRONG, and second time it happened immediately after the miscarriage, when I thought there was no way in hell I could have been ovulating so quickly - WRONG again). With some people, not all, charting and checking all the signs only adds to the stress, making it more difficult to conceive. I would say try without any help for a few months and see what happens!

This is what we did too and we got pregnant on the first try.

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
Hubby & I weren't even trying when we conceived. We actually were just having fun as a married couple and SURPRISE!!! Less the stress of charting and all that. BUT I do know there is a website that will tell you when you are most fertile. I believe its my ovulation chart.com . Something to that affect!

Re: IS THIS A DUMB QUESTION?
You can just try. But, for me, I recently started having irregular periods and I wanted to make sure we were actually active on those days. Remember, you only have a short window to get pregnant. I believe it is 2-3 days a month.
