Is this a party or a wedding?

Is this a party or a wedding?

I posted a something funny about myself on Facebook. Nothing wedding related. My aunt comments on my status asking me if it's ok for her to bring two additional couples to my wedding? Ummm really? My mom and FH insisted that we fill out the RSVP cards. Although it's bad etiquette, I understand why. I deleted the status. I did call her. She said she needs a ride and her 4 friends were going to give her a ride. I told her I only invited her.So now on top of everything else in my life, I have to find someone to give her a ride...

Also, with this wedding experience I'm learning how different I am from my family. Different in terms of them being GHETTO! I finally admitted it. I grew up on LI and they lived in Brooklyn, not that it mattered. But I guess I was exposed to certain things that are normal to me. My cousin complained that there should be street parking not just valet. I'm thinking valet is normal... So I can't wait to hear the comments about CH. They might think I'm trying to have a platinum wedding.

Sorry for the rant. Just a little PO about my 'Ghetto' aunt!

well forget what they think --our weddings will be PERFECT thanks to our venue!!!

PS- pass the job of finding her a ride on to someone else!!

I can totally relate! Plenty of ghetto ppl in our famly as well! It's like people don't understand this is a formal event and not some house party. Then it seems like everyone feels we must accommodate them and that we must be made of $$!! It's just so ridiculous.

Your aunt has nerve wanting to invite 4 additional ppl to 'give her a ride'. It takes 4 ppl to drive a car?? I can see if she asked to bring 1 additional guest but 4?! People don't understand that we are paying to have you at a guest at our wedding. Which proves my point of them thinking its just some reg house party where the more the merrier. Same does not go for a wedding unless $ isn't an issue! Lol

oh my gosh! I'm for you!
What a headache to have to worry about how your aunt is getting there on top of everything else.

Don't stress! I agree to let someone else take over the task of finding them a ride. I really feel like people outside of LI don't get the type of weddings we have here.

Lol I'm finding that people are ghetto no matter where they're from. I'm sorry but COME ON! It does not take four people to drop your aunt off - last time I checked it only takes one to drive a car. And it is not your responsibility to provide her with transportation. Why can't she get a ride with one of your other relatives (someone who has been invited, perhaps? lol)

One of FMIL's friends was invited with her son and she called FMIL and told her she was coming with her daughter, her son, and his girlfriend/baby mama. And FMIL told her that was fine. Then they send back the response card blank with only 'accepts' checked off. Unfortunately a lot of FH's family has filled out the response cards incorrectly or haven't sent them back at all thinking it would be fine to just tell FMIL they are coming. Even FMIL screwed up her's TBH.

There's a reason the invitation came with a return envelope, people!

Well, I'm from Brooklyn and would never even think of asking the bride if I could invite more people. That's ridiculous! I also think valet parking is normal for a wedding venue. Just tell your Aunt, no she cannot invite anyone else and get car service for her. Some day you will laugh at all this!

It's mostly people that don't live in NY/NJ area who don't understand big weddings. The real problem is that most people, regardless of where they live, don't understand the hard work & stress that goes into weddings.

Nella, I have the country folk in WV and VA who think our wedding is highfalutin. Lol.
