So my FH is inviting 60 people from his side to the wedding (only 10 are friends, the rest family). I only have 15 people (family, friends). Is this a problem?? Have any of you encountered this dilemma and how did it work out? Also, my family doesn't speak the language and I don't want them to feel uncomfortable. Please help

Re: Is this a problem??
my dh had ALOT more ppl than i did. But he also has a HUGE family and most of my family is overseas and couldnt come. I was fine with it. We had 275 guests, and let me say that about 100 were family from his side, and then he also invited friends and he has alot. In the end you enjoy everybody that is there. And as long as you have those who are most important to you then thats all that matters.

Ours was the other way around. It isn't a problem, it is what it is. Consider yourself lucky you only have to pay for 72, instead of 122!

Re: Is this a problem??
I have only one sibling and a very small extended family...
FH is one of 6 kids...his dad is one of 13 kids!! So I anticipate he will have a MUCH larger guest list than I do!!
However, if your family is paying for it, don't let them get too out of hand!!

oh yeah i couldnt imagine if my whole family was here bc i have a huge family overseas. My grandmother is one of 9 kids and my dads side is HUGE, we wouldve had 400 guests lol.
Its fine and remember that now his family will also be your family.

OHHHH ok i get you. Well i know its hard but youre gonna have to get over that small part. I put in more but also remember there are alot things that revolve around you, so evens out. Yes he will have more guests but you will have your wedding dress, shoes, veil, headpiece, hair and make up, im sure flowers are more of what you want not what he wants since guys dont care about this. Then there are other details that as women we care about more and the guy could do without but we still do it.

I have a much larger family then my FH and were paying for it 50/50 but you cant look at it like hes inviting more then you or your inviting more then him. No one can help it if they have a bigger family then there finace and as a couple everything should be split like you said 50/50 after all everything you get out of it will be split that way anyway...right!! Anyway you look at it its going to be stressful but try to enjoy it as much as you can

Re: Is this a problem??
It's the other way around for me. We're only inviting about 100 people and 90 of those are MY guests. I have a big family, friends, and church members i'm close with. He, however, has family living far away. He's not even inviting his friends because he already knows that they can't afford to fly out, and even though we ARE inviting his whole family, i really don't think any of them are going to make it.
But even so, we are still sharing the price for the wedding. Just because there's going to be mostly 'my' people there, it's still a celebration of BOTH of us in our marriage. I would be very hurt if he told me that he didn't wanna help pay for it. We basically wouldn't be having a wedding then. Just a quick visit to the courthouse and a backyard bbq.
I do feel really bad that it's all my people, but there's nothing i can do about it, I guess. That's what happens in a long distance relationship, i suppose.

My in-laws side is half of my list (about 100 people) and that is just his family and family friends. My side is about 40 people and the rest are mutual friends of ours. In the beginning, I was bothered by it because my FH and I are paying for the wedding with a chunk from my parents (not his) but what can I do I thought. This is going to be my family and I am at the point where what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine.

Oh I had alot more people than DH because I have a huge family on my side. He did not mind at all so it wasn't an issue for us.

Re: Is this a problem??
my FH has more than my family. he had like 65 family members and we had about 40... it's not crazy, but they did offer to pay for the extra guests

Re: Is this a problem??
Why would that be a problem? I had many more guests at our wedding than my DH. He is from OOT, so many of them couldn't make the trip to NYC. We didn't have any problems at all.
As for your family not speaking the language (English?), see if you can have someone act as an interpreter during the ceremony and reception.
