Is this a problem??

Original post by KYBride09

So my FH is inviting 60 people from his side to the wedding (only 10 are friends, the rest family).
I only have 15 people (family, friends).
Is this a problem?? Have any of you encountered this dilemma and how did it work out?
Also, my family doesn't speak the language and I don't want them to feel uncomfortable.
Please help

My fiance has more invited to our wedding as well, but he has a huge family! The way I see it is even though you are splitting it 50/50, it shouldn't matter.....once you are married, it will be your money collectively.....and you will reap the benefits of the gifts from his family!

It all evens out in the long run and the more people to come and celebrate, the better! You will appreciate having the family there that day!

BEST OF LUCK!

Why would that be a problem? I had many more guests at our wedding than my DH. He is from OOT, so many of them couldn't make the trip to NYC. We didn't have any problems at all.

As for your family not speaking the language (English?), see if you can have someone act as an interpreter during the ceremony and reception.

Regarding the language: I meant as how would my family communicate with his since they don't speak english. They are finde for the ceremony and reception, but I know my mother will not like having an interpreter around her the entire night.

I just feel a bit stressed because my FH and I are paying for the wedding (50/50)..... see where am getting at????

I have many more people than DH, and while we initially were splitting the wedding 50/50, i am paying for my extra guests. I was a little hurt by this initially, and then realized how unfair splitting it 50/50 was. We're making up the differences along the way - he wanted an ice sculpture so he paid for it.. It doesn't balance out exactly, but finances are a huge part of marriage, and there are things we need to adjust to.
