Is this a totally CRAZY wacked out idea?

Original post by TheFutureMrsM

ok, so i have seen a few brides on here put their wedding dress for sale, and also i have seen brides on ebay selling their gown 'worn once'
This said i am not very sentimental, i hate collecting things and I know wedding gowns can be so expensive and im not sure if i would want to sell it, i know i definately dont want to have it preserved in a box that i can take out. I know if i have kids that styles change and they arent going to want to wear it. So my idea was to get a dress that was a mermaid, or trumpet style where the poof is on the bottom part, i have a whole bunch of dresses in my album of the styles im in love with. So after i wear my dress once, i was thinking of going to the tailor and getting it cut at the knee for a cocktail dress. NOW is this a totally wacked out idea?? I obviously would not be able to wear it to a wedding, but im sure there will be other events i could wear it to. It may even give me motivation to keep my shape after possibly?

I would love to know if anyone thinks this is crazy??

Wow!!!! This is a good idea. I know the dress I have in mind would NOT be suitable for this, but if yours works go for it!
I agree with the girl who mentioned dying, try it! You will always have your pictures to remember your dress!!!

This is funny, I was just debating if I could have this done to mine and keep it for DH's formal business dinners (which are alot & I am always buying new dresses for).
Then decided I would look pretty stupid as most of those people that would be there were just at the wedding...
Still love the idea, I say go for it!

I LOVE the idea. I liked the bodice of my dress so much that was considering doing the same thing.
