Is this absolutely insane?

Is this absolutely insane?

Soooo, finding a veil may have actually been harder than finding my dress.

Everything that I put on my head just felt like a piece of fabric and nothing really made me say 'Yeah! I have to get this!'

Well, that was until I saw the veil set that completely made me lose my mind and made me actually feel like a bride.

It's a gorgeous 3 tier set. The top part is a 2 tier rhinestone edged fingertip length veil with the perfect amount of poof that I was looking for. The bottom piece is a matching cascading rhinestone edged cathedral length veil.

Everything about these veils is what I was looking for and I can't imagine getting married without them.

Well the catch is that the set's original cost is $700! I get a discount so that would bring the total to $500, but is that absolutely insane???? I would only be wearing the cathedral veil for the ceremony and pics but that by itself is $400!!!

Should I just splurge and spend the $500 to get the entire set, know that it will match and be exactly what I want?

Should I just spend $100 and get the fingertip veil by itself and see if Barron's can make a matching cathedral veil? We went to Barron's before and they did not have anything like what I was looking for and did not have the matching stone. I would probably be a nervous wreck until it comes in. This would probably be about $200 cheaper than the first option.

Should I just get the fingertip veil for $100 and get a plain cathedral veil for way cheaper?

I don't know what to do...

Let me start by saying that you should do whatever you feel comfortable with.

I am just a very frugal person, so I would buy the top piece that you love and then get a cheaper cathedral veil.

You will prob have the same effect and can spend the extra cash somewhere else.

IMHO.

I voted to go for it. I know it is really expensive, but if you don't get it on the day of your wedding are you going to be saying 'I wish....' so if it is really that important to you- go for it!

You could also shop around and see if anyone would be willing to make it for you at a better price. Youd be taking a risk that it wouldnt be exactly the same though. I would try some local seamstresses or see if there's an artist on etsy that specializes in veils (and has maybe done something similar). Just make sure you are happy with your decision whatever you end up doing...you dont want to end up regretting it just to save a bit of money. Good luck!

I think you should go for it. I love the way veils look and if it made you feel beautiful and like a bride -- it is worth it.

I'm cheap so I probably wouldn't spend it, but think about this...will you regret not having it? Take a few days or a week and if you cant get it out of your mind, buy it.

i would buy the fingertip veil and get a cheaper cathedral length veil somewhere else. i, personally, would not spend $500 on a veil set.
you can always try to find someone who will make you a veil, i saw so many on etsy b/c i was toying with the idea of getting one as well. my dress has a champagne sash and my veil has champagne trim so i would want the cathedral veil to match.
maybe take pics of the stone and see if someone can recreate it or at least get something to compliment it.

I would go for it- I did lol.

My veil was 600- cathedral length that was made for my gown. The detailing around the veil matches the appliques on the dress.

I decided to go for it since I don't plan on wearing an additional headpiece, and if I do it will be a DYI project.

Thanks girls!

I made an appt for Monday with FMIL to come with me for another opinion. (All my BM are out of state and my mom already saw it.)

I'm going to try it on again and see if I have the same reaction. It's so not in the budget, but I might have to splurge. We'll see.

My veil cost 400, but that is because it is a cathedral veil with swarovski crystals that match the pattern on my dress. Paradise brida gave me the matching blusher for free. And that cost 250. so my veil is $650. So I say get what you like.
