Hey girls - I just got a call about winning a free vacation. My sister, NYBride, said she had recieved the same call a few years ago after attending a bridal expo, and so did many other brides on LIW.
The company that I 'won' this thru is some sort of cook-ware company. I can't remember the name bc she said it so fast. Its an 8 day 7 night trip where we'll stay in a condo anywhere in the US, Mexico or Europe.
We have to attend a cooking show where they feed us and try to get us to buy their products. I'm waiting for the catch which my sister guarantees.
I don't remember entering a contest when I was at the Melville Marriot Expo in March.
PLS let me know if you got a call too!!
Is this a scam?

Sounds like a scam to me - especially if you don't remember entering.

I got a call about registering for a free honeymoon and that they had good news for me. I couldn't catch the name either. Something with Simplicity in it and her name sounded like Korea. I'm assuming it's not worth calling her back...

Re: Is this ACTUALLY free?
If you dont enter a contest theres no way you really won anything...Be careful, i dont think this is one of those scams that ask for money or anything like that, another thing since this happened recently to someone on here, when you win something you dont give anything or buy anything.
This sounds like one of those time share type things, where you have to spend hours where they talk about their product and them pushing it on you and thats if you even get the trip
Many girls on here got calls like this

Re: Is this ACTUALLY free?
I remember someone posting on this a while ago....If I remeber right they said they went to the cooking thing.and you had to purchase atleast $100 worth of cookware to earn the free vacation or something like that. So it definately not free....

I just got a call today saying I won a free vacation. They said they were from Sincerity Bridal and met me at the bridal extravaganza and I entered a contest. I never entered any contest like this and do not remember the company.

I got a call a few hours ago from someone saying that I had registered for their contest. He said 'I have some good news for you'...which struck me as weird..I don't know why. But it's been about a month since the thing at the Melville Marriott..why would they call NOW?!
I was told to call some 1800 number..not gonna do it...unless I feel like messing with them..

Re: Is this ACTUALLY free?
Don't do it! I went to sit through the 2 hour presentation to get the free vacation and a $500 gift card to some website online... the presentation was impressive, but the cook ware is sooo fricken expensive... the vacation s**ks... it's limited... it's only hotel stay so you have to pay for your own air fair... and you can't really pick the hotel... and the gift card is even more ridiculous! You have to pay for the shipping of anything you get and the shipping is basically the cost of the product! Don't waste your time! My FH wanted to kill me after I dragged him there!

Me too! And the lady had a southern-ish accent. I believe she said she was from Simple Elegance or Simplicity something?
I'm going to take this opportunity to further mention that I find it highly annoying that all of these 'vendors' claim to get my number from when I gave it to them at the LIW bridal expo. First of all, I did not give anyone my phone number b/c of this reason. If I did, it was because I was legitimately interested in their services. I certainly did not enter to recieve some cookware bullsh!t. If I wanted their crap I would go and buy it myself. I don't need to be conned by some condo getaway to Cape Cod of all places. How exotic! I wonder if I can interchange that with a condo at the Jersey Shore?
Second of all, I don't even remember half of these vendors that are calling me being at the bridal expo. I think the real scam is the vendors are selling or sharing our info with each other. I have travel agent after travel agent calling me claiming I gave them my number. I KNOW I didn't do that b/c MY MOTHER is a travel agent!
It's rude and totally annoying. And would you happen to also notice that the vendors consistently harassing, or excuse me, presenting their sales pitch, are people that are not well known, or have horrible reps? After, literally the 9th call from one of these vendors, despite my having repeatedly asked them to stop calling me, I finally told them that the reason I'm not intersted is b/c they have a horrible reputation. Maybe they should start to focus on that instead. Lesson to learn: you have to give ZERO info or fake numbers.
