My friend is getting married in a couple of weeks, and I had intended on getting a hair trial done that morning, figuring I may as well get some use out of it. Obviously, I'm taking out the tiara comb lol.
But it's a fairly low key event, and she's very down to earth, so I can't imagine she's going to be doing anything overly crazy with her hair...so now I'm wondering if it will be inappropriate to have my hair all done up? Especially because I'm not in the bridal party....I was at one point, but am no longer. I'm even going to be wearing my old BM dress from my sister's...so I don't want to seem like I'm overshadowing the bridal party, or have people say who the hell does she think she is, it's not HER wedding.
And to make matters worse, my 'good' coat is ivory
Do you think it would be construed as way out of line to do my hair trial that day, or fine and I should get my money's worth?

I'm sure the hair will be fine, your dress attire can also help tone it down a bit. As long as you are not wearing your good coat throughout the reception I can't see any real issue.

I don't see a problem with it. I doubt you plan to wear the ivory coat during the reception.
Wouldn't we be honored if everyone got their hair done for our wedding? I would. Life goes on, the world does not revolve around the bride, we need to keep that in mind ourselves for when our time comes.

I would take the hair trial out, you dont want to be more done up than the bride, I went to a wedding once and there was a guest that was decked out more than the bridesmaids....
another point, I wouldn't want anyone seeing my Day of hair before the wedding HTH

The hair trial part is fine... But I think you should wear a more simple dress. Like a plain black one so it's not too over the top.

i think the hair will be fine, just keep the rest of it toned down and youll be fine! the ivory coat is fine too, you wont be wearing it the whole time so its not an issue at all!

I see no problem... people go to weddings in all different styles.

Half up/half down with a poof...loose curls. Basically nothing different than I would do myself for any other party, just a little more professionally polished.
So go with pink dress over brown you're saying? I have really no dresses...and going out and buying a new one at this time financially isn't an option LOL.
See, my problem is I'm actually TOO thoughtful. I'm sure she's not going to be agonizing over propriety like this when the roles are reversed in a few months!

Honestly, I would take it out... I went to a wedding like that before, and had my hair done from an earlier event...I felt soo out of place since I was the only one with hair all done up like that... JMO...

Re: Is this appropriate?
Is the brown dress the one you wore as a bridesmaid? If so and that is what you were planning to wear, I think it looks fine, it is not too too dressy ... I was thinking floor length gown lol. I think that dress is fine ... and as long as you don't wear your headpiece I think you will be OK to have your hair done beforehand ... lots of people get their hair done just to go to a wedding! I don't think it will be too out of place!
Let us know what you decide!
