FH wants to hang out with his best friend...and he is over here A LOT! (well, a few times a week) and everytime he comes over they monopolize the living room (we only have a living room and bedroom pretty much). so tonight i told him that if he wanted to hang out he had to go over there. is that bad of me? FH didnt seem to mind so i guess it is alright. i just wish it didnt bother me sometimes. but whenever his friend comes over they sit in the living room playing video games and i can't even watch tv unless i go into the bedroom. it's just boring for me to hang out with them. anyone else have this problem?? i really want his friend to get a gf b/c i figure maybe that will get him out more often and we can actually do some fun things together....but i dont think that is happening anytime soon. lets just say he is not the type to settle down with a girl.

I am with you entirely. Sometimes, I say the same thing also. Don't feel bad..just relax and spend some time alone!

yeah, i figured it was better to tell him to go there then to not 'let him go out at all'! the funny thing is though...that FH told me his friend said to him the other night...something like, 'the closer it gets to your wedding the tighter the leash keeps getting...' i think he said it jokingly though....and really, is it my fault if FH listens to me? it's not like i force him or really tell him what to do. but sometimes i ask him nicely and he listens!

Wow!! I am def. sympathetic with your situation. FH and his friend do the same exact thing to me...and I love his friend to death but sometimes you just need your 'alone' time!

Re: is this bad??
it is so much harder for all of us starting out - bc in a house a guy can have his 'space' and his wife/fiance can do what she wants
like in my cousin's house - the guys have a bar area downstairs. . .so if she wants to put on PJs and watch a chick flick - she still has her living room to herself . . .
but in our starter apartments it is SO HARD so i completely understand. . .i can already see us having problems with this bc in our apt you have to walk THROUGH the bedroom to get to the living room! and FH and I have very different schedules with work and all. .
anyway - you were completely right in asking him to go there. . .better you ask then let his friend come over and you are just silently fuming! and eventually take it out on FH!

yeah and the funny thing is....it is really only with this one friend that i have this problem....i mean, i like him, he's a nice guy and all....but i just dont have anything in common with him. i think he is still a little immature so i am figuring things will change within the next few years....i hope! lol. b/c FH is def. not going to stop being friends with him, he will be around for quite a while. (OMG...i really sound horrible dont i! i dont mean to be rude!)

wow, at least he listens to you. My Fh doesn't listen it all about being a man. He is very old school and set in his ways.

yes! you are SO right! and only having one real 'hang out' room....it's not even like i can invite a girlfriend over too! like there have been times when i want to invite my sister over while his friend is here....but that would be even more awkward! it's just not a good mix of people. and...we only have ONE couch! there are 3 cushions and if i want to sit on the couch i really dont feel like being squished up against his friend. i like to sprawl out, lol! FH and i were talking about this and both agree it will be better when we get a house....(like 798798789 years from now! lol )

haha, yeah he's def. not mad at me, lol! the thing is he totally understands and knows how i feel. it's just hard to come up with a solution. like, he will try to get his friend to do other things besides just playing video games when he comes over...like watching movies, etc....but....i dont want to make them do something else just b/c i am there. they need their guy time too. i try going out sometimes when his friend comes over...but sometimes i just dont feel like going anywhere...lol. that is when he 'gets kicked out'

you made me remember the movie, 'you, me and dupree'
i don't think it's bad. they can alternate houses if the friend is not going any where and anytime soon! you need your space too so having him there all the time can get frustrating.

Its not bad of you at all. It fair...and just a word from someone who has been through that whole video game obsession...they grow out of it...well, Steven did anyway. He used to spend every waking moment with his best friend playing video games...now he is 32 and rarely ever plays.
