My dad went in for surgery today on his coorated artery and he went in and 12:45 and they said it would be 1 1/2 hrs to 2, and now 3 hours later, he is still in surgery.
Do I need to be worried, I am really scared now, and I can't get in touch with my mom, since she is at the hospital.

Michelle - I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm sure if there was any reason to be concerned your Mom would have called you. hang in there. Please keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you.

Shelzp - sorry to hear about your dad but try not to be too worried. My father had the same surgery a few years ago and it took hours - but he was fine.

Thanks guys, I was thinking that this was not that big of a deal, ( I know it is major surgery but I didn't think he could die) but then my dad was talking about dieing before the surgery and I started to get freaked out.

Don't freak out. My dad's had to have surgey after having a heart attack, then minor surgery twice after that to fix up some stuff. Even though he's taken at 12:45, they sometimes make them wait up there and they don't get actually taken taken until much later. I am sure it will be okay. My dad says he sometimes sits up there for an hour or two waiting until he can be taken while we're sitting the waiting room freaking out! What hospital is he at?

He waited form 8:45 until 12:45 and then they took him, I was at the hospital at 1:30 and they dais probably around 3:00
He is at Good Samitarian in West Islip.

He is doing good, he was in recovery for a while, but the surgery went well, it was almost completely blocked. As of last night they were waiting to get him into a room. We saw him last night and he says he feels good just a bit sore. He was uncomfortable in the recovery room, they had yet to put him in a regular bed. But he is doing well.

I went to see him on my lunch and he is doing good, just a bit swollen from removing the drain. They will be moving him to another room today, where there will be less monitoring, and he might be home tomorrow!!!
