i will be getting married at my RH as well...
and im planning on sticking to tradition and not seeing my FH until i am walking down the aisle.

luckily, my rh is letting us go there an hour and a half before the ceremony. so i am planning on having all of the girls (including the moms) go for that extra time before in order to take some pictures...cause then all that is left after is the guys pictures, group pictures, and the bride/groom pictures..

Im doing the same thing ... we actually are going to talk to the RH to see if they can extend CH an extra half hour so that we can take pics and not miss it, but if we do miss the CH then thats life. We are going to get the food in our room anyway, so its not like we are really missing the food or anything. That tradition is really big for me esp since we arent getting married at church

thats us too

We are taking our pics before the ceremony. I was a little dissapointed about the whole surprise element of him seeing me for the first time. But all the photogs we have spoken to said they still can catch his 'first sight'reaction. Beside I think taking pics is casual and fun but when I am walking down the aisle that will be romantic and emotional.

i totally understand that you don't want to lose that first moment when he sees you walk down the aisle - i felt the same way - but then after thinking about how badly i want lots of pictures (and we spent a lot on our photographer so i really want to get the most for our money) and when i thought about how much money we are spending on the RH - i figured that it made more sense to be able to enjoy every aspect - like going to our cocktail hour, seeing the room set up, mingling with guests - enjoying the reception without stopping for photos - i don't know, for the amount of money we are spending its just more logical to do photos beforehand....we also added 30 mins to our CH, which i think is becoming a new trend b/c the last wedding we were at the CH was extended and i heard that its becoming the norm at some places out in Jersey.....but anyway, our photographer told us that even with the extension we won't have time to do pictures after the ceremony and still be able to attend the CH - she was honest and i totally appreciated that....so after thinking about it we decided we would just see eachother before - and i am really excited about it now - i feel like we get to have two moments that day - when he sees me for the first time AND when i walk down the aisle - i don't know, i feel like we get two exciting moments that day.....i dont know, you have to do what you are comfortable with, but SO MANY brides on here said that seeing eachother first was the best decision they could have made - so for me, and for us as a couple it was the best choice, but do what you are comfortable with - if you rather him wait to see your real dress and you are okay with having most of your photos in a dress that isnt your 'real' gown than go for it....do what makes you happy - you dont want any regrets - but like i said, think about it - you get two special moments if you see him before - and when you walk down that aisle i dont think it will be any less special - for me, i think it will be better since all my nerves will be out of the way and i can really take in that moment - ill be less anxious and more relaxed - some brides are cool and calm - i will probably be very nervous so i like that i get to see FH before things get started that way my nerves will be calmed....bottom line, do what is good for you

Thanks everyone!! I really didn't think the idea through. I don't want all my formal pictures in a different dress. It makes more sense seeing each other before hand. I want my parents, FH's parents and our whole bridal party to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour and not miss anything because of pictures. I was just trying to think out side the box. But now thinking about it, I really don't want pictures of me in a random dress. haha. I'm sure I will figure something out!! Thanks again!

I'm actually having the same problem..

We're getting married at RH and hes gonna end up seeing me before the ceremony .. We're doing this whole to-do about him seeing me for the first time.. Were my BP will circle me and cover me up and FH will have his back turned.. Its this whole thing the photographer said. so it kinda makes up for the fact that seeing me walk down the isle won't be the first time....

We don't want to miss Ch thats why I'm doing it that way..

I've been to wedding where they did this, it was really nice!

Also realize that making your cocktail hour 30 minutes longer might be good for you, but might be boring for the guests. Often after 45 minutes people are ready to move into the reception, but at that point, the CH(and a half) will only be half over.

I think either idea will be great. We are having the same problem and we decided that we don't want to miss any of our cocktail hour so we are going to see each other before. Our photographer made us feel better about it - they said that they set us up to see each other for the first time and capture it all on tape so the only difference is it's not walking down the aisle and not in front of all of our guests. My mom thinks it will be more romantic also because it will be private and just between us (and the photographer!)
