Is this fair of a hotel to do??

Is this fair of a hotel to do??

Want to hear something nervey (sp?!)? We are booked at a hotel for the wedding night and have booked about 10 rooms so far. The hotel is not cheap (about $189 per night) but they include a huge breakfast the next morning. However, my FIL's are throwing us a brunch the day after the wedding at this hotel in a private room. The hotel is still charging them like $30 something per person EVEN though these people are paying for a breakfast in their rate. I do NOT think this is fair. At least lower the room rate for my guests. What do you all think?

I think it is unfair. If you complain enough, they will give it to you, or go somewhere else!

Very unfair, but if it's in the contract, they may not change it, especially since you have rooms already booked. Sorry.

You could try contacting corporate and see if you get further with them?

I definitely would at least try to fight that - it is unfair.

Could they possibly be giving a discount that you don't realize? And by the way is the hotel the Inn at Fox Hollow because a lot of it sounds familiar to what I am paying?

I would complain also! That's ridiculous! Most hotels have rates that include breakfast and lower rates that do not.

Unfortunately, they can do this. I would contact the sales department and see if you can get $10pp off the group breakfast rate. That would be a fair price. Does the hotel quote a group rate with no breakfast included?

Have you found out the menu differences between what the hotel is offering in teh $189 rate & what your parents are organizing? If the menus are similar, maybe you can just go w/the breakfast already included instead of fighting w/them.

Totally unfair! They are just being greedy! Definitely try to renogotiate with a 'higher up' memeber of management or at the executive level! I hope it works out for you!

I would also want to know what the difference is in the menu and find out why?

We were looking to throw an after party in the hotel we are going to stay in and they wanted to charge my mother $3000 for alcohol and heros! Heros for $3000 needless to say-- nope!

If there is no difference I would fight them to drop off some money I can understand some charge if you will be in a seperate room but not $30 pp if there is not menu difference! GL!

I agree, it is not fair. Tell them that you are having all these people stay and giving you business, at least cut some deal

I think that is so unfair - on the flip side however, the Wingate Inn in Garden City also includes continental breakfast for guests, and we are booking a conference room to have the breakfast, and all we have to pay is the room rental (& probably tip the waiter)

It's ridiculous that you have to pay per person UNLESS it's a totally different and more elaborate breakfast than the continental. Since it's brunch, it's probably much more.
If this is the case, I still think you should get a discount, and if you complain enough to the right people, you should get it.
Good Luck !!!

That is crazy If they wont lower your room rates, then you should tell them you want to cancel the brunch. I bet that will change their minds if they think they are going to lose that extra $30 pp.

Re: Is this fair of a hotel to do??

It's the same exact breakfast as the one the hotel offers. We can add things on like mimosa's but we have to pay even more for that. I don't mind paying for a room rental fee and gratuties and all that stuff but at least lower the guests room rate. It's not fair that they are paying alot of money for a room that includes breakfast and then we are double-paying. It's an independent hotel so there really is no corporate office I think. We've tried talking to a higher up but no luck. I think we will still go through with this but it just makes me sad that people are SO greedy!
