It seems high- how much are you paying each per bo-k?

I don't have the quotes for individual items at work. Will reply when I get home.

$650 for the personal flowers seems reasonable to me.

Sounds reasonable to me. Does this mean that your search for a florist is over?! Congrats!

I think this quote is pretty reasonable.

The quote seems reasonable but I dont think you are getting enough flowers in your bouquets. 10 roses is not very many and will make a very small clutch.

The average size bouquet is somewhere about 30 large roses.

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Stef, I asked the florist what would be the size of the bridal BQ, and he gave me an approximate measurement that was about the same as my waist in diameter... They will be half open.

For the girls I wanted something smaller, and he suggested that about 10 roses with some callas would work... I guess I'll have to go to ariston and try to make a sample to see the sizing!

Sassyz, I am bumping and have posted separate pricing in the first post... What do you think?

alina, I think the quote is fine, and quite reasonable. Although I agree w/Stef - make sure th bo-ks are full enough, I think you may need more flowers in them.

If the florist is saying that 16 roses and 8 callas will be big enough, she should know. I had a similiar bouquet that was about 12 inches wide (not huge by any means) and it had a lot more roses. But maybe your florist will use larger roses than mine did.

That's what I meant- price is fine, but for the amount of flowers in the pieces... I know mine are more.. but I'm getting more flowers.. but you are way more petit than I am and I have a few regular size girls (10-14). I think my bo-k is $180 but i'm having 4 different roses w/ lilies....

The tussie mussies.. are they $30 b/c they are giving you the holder? Or do you have to provide that?

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Stef, I think the diameter of my bouquet will be less than 12 inches, more like 8-10. I'll check as it gets closer to the wedding day to make sure. I also just checked my contract and it doesn't have the # of stems, so now I don't know what to do, whether to ask the guy to send me a more specific contract (the current one was written on a piece of legal paper) or to just send him the picture and deposit and that's it?

Sassyz: The tussie mussies will be sort of like mini bouqets, with 6 roses hand tied. I don't expect to have any containers nor will I be providing them.

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Alina: I would suggest you get the approximate diameter of your/bms bouquet written into the contract along with specifics about what should be and should not be in it. You shoudnt need to know the exact number of stems, just the size because the size is also dependent on the size of the flower in addition to the stems.

For example:
Brides bouquet - 10 inches - to be made of roses of x type and calla lillies. No filler flowers may be used.

BMs bouquet - 8 inches - to be made of roses of x types. No filler flowers may be used.

What type of rose are you using? My bridesmaids bouquest were all black magic roses, about 10 inches in diameter and had more than 16 stems.

The reason why I would suggest being so exact is that my florist (terrible) tried to tell me that an 8-10 inch bouquet was large. I wasnt really sure so I had to ask around at the last minute and found out that it was definitely on the small side. Since Im not on the small side myself, I made them give me a larger bouquet (12 inches) but they made a big fuss about it saying they werent making any money on my bouquet even though they charged me $175 for it!!

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Stef, thanks. I think I'll send them a note like that with the deposit. The roses that the florist will use are called 'Oprah' roses, they're b/w 9-11 cm in diameter when opened. I picked them more based on color than size, although I was looking for a more fuller types of roses. And I have to specify no filler, the florist wasn't too crazy about that idea and didn't write it in the contract.

I hope I am not turning into a Bridezilla with the flowers

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Don't feel bad.. it says no baby's breath anywhere in my contract! It also says every type of flower that is in the bo-k.

I would say maybe quote out another florist for the same items & see what they give you.. then you'll know.

I love the Milleridge Florist- they are so good.

Alina: You are not a Bridezilla purely becuase you demand to get what you pay for and what they promise. Dont forget that you are the client and they are the vendor. Provided you communicate respectfully (even if strongly), they should should respect that.

Re: Is this florist quote reasonable?

Sassyz, I did the phonecalling part, and was planning to visit 4 people on saturday, but then one was a no show, and the other one I cancelled on, b/c at that point we found a florist that we liked.
This florist specifically was on the higher end for the cheaper florists, if that makes any sense. I can't use LI florists, b/c my wedding is in NJ.

For some reason I have found that with the wedding vendors its not only the product, but also their attitude/personality that plays a huge role. This seems to be a trend across the board for all vendors.

I guess I'll just type the contract out and have him sign it or initial it to make sure that he agrees to the terms/instructions or follow up with a phone call.

Thank you for all your advice girls!!! I am glad to have this item almost off my list.
