I sent my invitations out a week ago and of course my mother and father keep giving me more and more addresses and adding more and more people to the guest list. Today, I get an email from my mother with another 9 addresses...that is an extra 18 people!!!!! On top of that I don't even know these people they are mostly my fathers businesses associates. My dad says that they probably won't come, but what if they do? My father is paying for the reception hall (God bless him) but the more people, the more chair covers,flowers, favors, ect. we need, and that is coming out of my pocket....I am not really mad, just worried that we are literally inviting 50 more people then we said we would....Oh well, maybe I just more annoyed that I actually have to stuff more envelopes...

Did you let your dad know that although it seems like he is shelling out the money for the added guests, this is actually raising the cost for you too? I had the exact opposite problem. I wanted to invite some family friends from way back, but my mom kept telling me not to becasue they wouldn't come so not to waste my time. When I asked her if she had any friends she wanted to invite she told me my wedding was not a show and that I didn't need to announce it to the world

You should talk to your dad. It is very generous that he is paying for the hall. But, at the same time it isn't fair to put you into a situation where you have to pay more money for everything else. He probably doesn't even realize that is one of the results for inviting more people.
