Is this in bad taste?

Original post by steflily

I just read a post on caligraphy and it got me thinking....is it really bad taste to use my home printer and a fancy font to address the envelopes (both inner and outer)? Would it look really bad? Will anyone really notice?

I am trying to cut corners where I can and I can't see paying to have it done.

I actually just received my college roommate's wedding invite in the mail and it was completely streaked from the rain! It looked terrible!

Therefore I think I will be having mine printed on the computer as well!

Good luck!

Not bad taste at all. Do you really think anyone will notice what kind of ink is on the envelopes?? You're safe hun!!

I printed mine out on the computer - and while it took forever to feed them in and type each address and get them done - they looked beautiful and professional!
Even my mother, who is very hard to please, loved the way they looked.
Go for it!

Re: Is this in bad taste?

I just printed mine on the computer today.

For the price of calligrpahy I could do so many more things with the money. My only close friend sho used calligraphy did it herself. She took a class at the local high school adult ed early during her engagement.

I just couldn't justify the expense. I think many today are done this way.

I have to agree though the mailing labels are tacky. My friend did this last year and I thought, huh? She really wasn't very detail oriented about her wedding. Don't get me wrong it was beautiful but she, herself, is not crafty.

My FH and I are making are invitations from start to finish and we are going to print the envelopes with our printer. we actually just bought a new printer to handle all the work we expect it to do with the wedding (engageent announcement, STD's, invitations, placecards, thank you's, table cards, menus... we are doing it all as a DIY project)

If you are worried, get a new printer just to be safe, it will still be cheaper than a calligrapher (our printer was under $100 with shipping included...FM if you are interested in getting one)

that's exactly what I did, the envelopes came out beautifully, if you get the right font and are willing to play around with it to get the perfect effect it'll look professional, fm me for more info.

us, too - no labels, though, i agree. We did it, and people even complimented us on it. FM for details.
