I would be afraid of that happening to him, too, but I wouldn't try to stop him from doing it either.

i mean i dont ever tell FH what to do so if he really wants to he can do it....but I just was telling him I didnt think it was a good idea.

I don't think it's a good idea regardless of when you do it! LOL! Why tempt fate? That's why I NEVER will.

That exists?! OMG! It's really cool, too. Now THAT I would've done in Vegas!

Here's a link.

Though personally, I don't think this is anything like skydiving. Maybe the sensation is similar but this is not my equivalent of flinging myself from a plane. LOL!

OMG i totally agree wiht you....i dunno if id tell him to NOT go...but i know where you're coming from!!

My mom rides a motorcycle and REFUSES to get on before the wedding, because GOD FORBID she wiped out or something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not sure if this has been mentioned or not.. but did he not watch full house??

jesse went on the morning of his wedding and ended up being LATE!

I'd tell him to wait till the honeymoon, you guys can do it together!

*eta- i read through the thread and saw that everyone else mentioned this.. lol... (didnt have a chance to read through before).

but I agree, he shouldn't do it unless its been a life long dream of his and he'll never get the chance again.

nope. Def not irrational. I told FH he can't play in his hockey league the season we get married. It's a trade off cuz I'm not playing softball either.

FH is a weightlifter and I told him no gym the week before the wedding!

I disagree with the question of where do you draw the line - you can't live in a bubble but you also shouldn't go looking for trouble.

I'd be furious if FH planned something like that. I think it's just plain disrespectful.

You are not being irrational!

Tell FH to just gamble instead! Honestly, who goes to Vegas for the sky-diving!!! He could do that anywhere!!!

It may be irrational in some people's eyes, but not in mine. I'd say the same thing, for the same reason. In fact, I did. Except his bachelor party is this weekend. I begged him to not go skydiving (and I don't think they will be). He then reminded me that he is a cop, and could potentially be shot at while at work on any given day.

Definitely not before the wedding.

FH's best man decided to go mountain biking 2 weeks before his wedding. He ended up falling, lacerating his kidneys and was still in the hospital the day before the wedding and they didn't know if he would be able to leave to make his wedding. Luckily he was let out the night before the wedding, had to drive up to Maine and he just made it to get married the next day.

omg Kelley!!! eric's GM were planning on having his bparty in Vegas and surprising him by taking him skydiving...omg my heart jumped into my throat I was soooo nervous for him bc I know he would be so scared when he realized where they were taking him but they decided to go to new orleans instead

I know how you feel but if hes really excited about doing it I think hes going to do it anyway HTH good luck

I told FH I didn't want him doing this AT ALL. I probably would have done it 5 years ago myself, I went bungee jumping and stuff, but I feel like now that we have each other if he did something like that and like, smashed and died it would be like, why did he HAVE to do that, when he has a great life and all. I know some people are totally on the other side of the fence about this but I don't believe in risky behavior just for the hell of it when you have people relying on you being around!! And even if I was okay with it I would not want him to right before the wedding for the same reasons as you.

ITA. I know alot of people are saying where does one draw the line, but I think walking down the street, getting into a plane crash etc. are different because that's part of everyday life, necessary things you do to move along in life. God forbid something happens from it, then it's a terrible and unexpected accident. But purposely doing something so risky for the thrill of it... that just seems foolish IMO.

I would be nervous too but like you said just because of the time frame with the closeness to the wedding....

yeah... i'd be opposed to this. i've been skydiving. i'm not nervous for anyone for the actual jumping out towards the earth part. its the landing part.

i would KILL him if he broke a leg or something.

I would have a problem too - its just not worth the risk so close
