I just called the restaurant (at the RH) where we are looking to have our Rehearsal dinner. They told me that there is an additional cake cutting per plate charge. I had planned on bringing a grooms cake to have after dinner. They want $2.50 per plate to cut each slice. ARE YOU KIDDING? I'm bringing the cake there myself and were not using their cake-which was included in our price.

Re: Is this normal?
I can't believe that. I'm paying per person for a dinner-which includes a cake from the restaurant. We are willing to not have that cake and just have them serve ours-which means that they will save time and money on the cake they were gonna make (but still be paid for it in our package). I can't imagine paying them $100 dollars to cut my cake. I even said id cut and serve it.. lol

Re: Is this normal?
It's dinner, not a big party. Why would the do that? Usually when you don't use the RH's cake at a wedding sometime they deduct $2-$3 off your total pp. I never heard of adding to the cost. That's ridiculous. Just as bad as BYOB places that charge a corking fee!

I hear it is normal, but I would double check your contract, they can't just add it for no reason!

It is normal, the same thing as some places if you bring your own alcohol they charge a price per bottle they open..

Re: Is this normal?
i have def. heard of this before. a lot of restaurants do it.
but if they include a cake and you are not using it maybe you can talk them down a little.
its worth a try.

Re: Is this normal?
Yeah, the girl who I spoke with was very nice. She said she could negotiate down to $2 per cake cutting (lol) but she couldnt do anything better than that. She is going to have the manager call me. We are having our ceremony and wedding there- -paying cash for 320 guests AND our family and friends has booked every single room in their hotel for two days. We are also having our rehearsal dinner there and a brunch the following morning (after the wedding). And you're going to charge me $2.50 for each time you cut a piece of cake??? HMMMM!!! Something seems wrong with that.

Re: Is this normal?
Seriously!!! I have no problem cutting the cake. I think I can manage.it .. But she told me that it's an absolute no no.... They won't let me cut it. How crazy is that? I'm about to have all my guests come into the hallway and I'll cut the cake there. What are they gonna do about it? I'm a bride with a knife!

Re: Is this normal?
yes it is normal but talk to the manager. Since you are doing all of that other stuff there and aren't asking to bring the cost down for the dinner the manager should be able to waive the fee.
