My invites are going to arrive tomorrow evening. I'm planning on assembling them, putting my parents' return address stamp on all envelopes, and all stamps. Hopefully addressing is getting done this weekend too.
My question - I'm seeing a big portion of my immediate family this weekend for my cousin's graduation party. Can I hand-give my invite to my grandma, my aunt & uncle, and my 2 cousins (who are JrBM and FG)? The latter 3 would be all going to the same house if I mailed them.
Can I try to save a few bucks in postage? Or do people expect to receive it in the mail?

Not sure about etiquette but I don't see anything wrong with hand-delivering. I'll probably being doing that with a few of my own.

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
I don't think it is wrong.
Some of my invites I hand delivered them because these were family memberes that I see almost everyday. In some housed I have 4 invites going to the same house. So there were about 10 invites that I did hand deliver. I knew those family members didn't care on the contrary they told me to save money.

I think it's lovely to invite them in person and would definitely do that. If you can, at least put their names on the invitations you are planning to hand-deliver.
I'd honestly be honored to get a personally delivered invitation to someone's wedding! Seems like more trouble than just putting them in the mail! Plus, then it's guarranteed not to get smushed at all!

I definitely agree with putting their names on the invite - but do I have to go the formal route?
Or can I just put 'Grandma B.' Or 'Miss Madison, Flower Girl'?

I've been given hand-delivered invites before and never gave it a second thought as not being proper etiquette...I'm sure no one will be offended

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
it depends on how formal you want to be.. if you are having a casual wedding then saying 'grandma' on the invite wouldn't be wrong.. and the same goes for hand delivering.. if you were having a black-tie i'd say mail them..

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
I don't see anything wrong with hand-delivering some of them, especially to those people that are closest to you. I haven't mailed my STD's yet, but I gave some personally to our parents and siblings already. I'll probably do the same with invites as well.

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
I'd mail them...maybe it's just me, but I like getting invitations in the mail, the anticipation of opening them, etc. Plus, you don't want people to skimp on your wedding gift, so why skimp on the $1 postage?

I LOVE the familiar route!!! I went with 'Mom and Pete' on my mom and step-father's inner envelope. My mom thought it was the sweetest thing when she got it.
Sounds like you have everything under control!

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
I don't think that it is improper etiquette to hand deliver invitations. If I were you I would address the invitation to them...not put their address but put your return address on the invite. Give them a title though. I think it is really nice to hand deliver invitations.

I hand delivered some if I saw someone before mailing them.

It is probably not 'proper' etiquette but I think it is nice to hand deliver them and see nothing wrong with it.

I think it's best to put them in the mail, a wedding is a formal event. It's nice to get an invitation in the mail.

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
The ones that I hand delivered were still all written out, complete with full names, addresses and calligraphy. I think people felt special to get them about a month before anyone else :)

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
its not proper etiquette to hand deliver them. Whether to do it or not I think depends on what kind of feel you want for your wedding. If you want a formal event feel then mail them. If you don't care than hand them out personally.
I saw most of my guests during the week I mailed them but thought they all should me mailed. JMO though.

Re: Is this not proper etiquette?
I'd mail them. I'm pretty sure hand delivering is not proper etiquette, but regardless, I love getting snail mail and its even better when its something like a wedding invitation.
