Is this over the top, or too expensive to you?

Original post by BriBri529

going to a broadway show in the afternoon (taking the train into the city and back to long island) and then going to dinner somewhere back on Long Island?

This is one of the things I wanted to do for my bachelorette party- some of my bridesmaids are fine with it while others think it is too expensive.

We have pretty much decided this is a go, and will be ordering tickets on Friday, but I can't help but feel that I am putting people out . . .

If you are doing dinner back on LI, can some people just meet you ther is the show is tro expensive for them? Mien came out to almsot $100 a person & it was just dinner & drinks ( at 2 places)

These things are jsut expensive,

I like this idea. That way people have a choice. It'll depend on how much people are willing to spend.

I don't think it's too expensive or over the top at all. It actually sounds like a great evening. Many people today do bachelorette weekends, which is what we are doing for my cousin and it's easily costing us almost $1,000 each.

I think it sounds great, and not at all over the top or too expensive. Have fun!

I personally find it a bit ridiculous when people want their BMs to spend a bunch of money on a bach party. They've already spent tons of cash on wedding related expenses. It's a nice time to get together with the girls, but you don't need to spend tons of money to have a good time with your friends, do you? It's not the last time you're ever going to be able to go out with your friends.

Personally, I agree with this. Most of the weddings I have been in cost a ton of money. When I agreed to be in the BP, I expected to pay for the dress and contribute to the shower, but to spend another couple of hundred for the B-party is a bit much for me.

No matter what you do it all adds up. That doesn't seem any more expensive than other ideas I've heard. I would do it, plus your saving money by taking the train and not a limo.

I don't think it's too expensive. If it is too expensive for some and you really want them there, then offer to pay half? I would do it for my girls! JMO

definitely NOT- IMO that is a totally reasonable amount to spend. Most bachelorette parties involve drinking, limos, going away- all more expensive!!

Plus this is much more original and memorable

if I were in the BP, I would think it was over the top. engagement parties, shower, dress, hair, and then a card at the party....I would plan it, but no way at all be offended if someone can't make it.

Oh no, I am telling the girls if they can't do it, I won't be at all offended.

I am a pleaser - I try to make everyone happy. So one of my bridesmaids (FSIL)was asking of some things I might want to do, so I was making suggestions I was saying how some of the things (like going to a show) are expensive and I am trying to think of something that would be affordable. Right away she was on it- 'No I think a show is a great idea! It will be fine- I will ask on my end, you ask on yours and we'll get a count!'

So, I asked some people- some were into it, one of my BM's was iffy, but also could only be available one weekend in June, which wasn't good for some of the other girls, so she can't come anyway . . .

I am just so tired of trying to make EVERYONE happy . . .

I think it's a great excuse for the girls to have a classy night out. Not over the top at all.

it sounds like a nice idea to me and doesn't seem too expensive. but, if you feel bad, maybe you can try looking for discount broadway tickets. www.broadwaybox.com is a great site. i've used it a number of times.
