I think if you just explain the situation to her parents and show them that you were concerned I am sure they will understand. Maybe get a lii\ttle gift for the her. Try not to feel too bad, things happen in life that we can't control. Good Luck

I think if you called and checked on her, that is ok, being that you had a funeral!
I mean there are only so many places you can be at one time!

it's completely understandable that you forgot. your friend's father passing was obviously on your mind and was extremely upsetting to you. do they not know about that?
if your FH was asking about her i really think that's fine. i don't see the big deal either. either you or him should explain to them that someone close to you passed away and you were very upset about it. i think they should understand. if not, that's ridiculous.

Re: is this really a big deal?
If her tonsils getting taken out were the only thing going on in your life then maybe it would have been important. But clearly the death of a friends father and your uncle being hospitalized are a wee bit more important than that right now. I think if you call now, ask how she is doing and explain the situation they will understand. Everyone is mad because everyone doesn't understand the other situations you're dealing with this week.

Alot of people don't understand that you have your own life....with many things going on in it.
I feel you...on this one..I get yelled at so much b/c I don't call people to see how they are doing.....
Just make sure FH's neice knows your concerned about her recovery..and that you love her...shes the only one that needs to know you care about her....
Everyone else...can think w/e they want you know..

Re: is this really a big deal?
yeah same here, my cousin told my parents that she is mad at me that I haven't called...uhmmm heres why i always hate when people say this, uhmmm have you called me, why is it that i havent called and not the other way around. Not only that i am the one who ALWAYS called, uhmmm it'd be nice if you call me. So if i dont call you wont either but get mad at me. And she said i didnt pay enough attention to her at my e-party. Ok i went over quite a few times, sorry that just about everytime i went over to your table someone came over to pull me away to go take a pic or do something.
Not to mention she is the one who hangs out with her bf all the time and she goes months without calling me, even my mom was like not like she calls often...its really annoying, she knows about certain things going on now in my life think she would call huh

matilde, I really wouldn't let it bother you too much. Like the other girls said, some people just don't understand that there are other things going on in life and you can't be everywhere at every minute. It was an honest mistake.
I would call and see how she is, or stop over there and bring her something just to smooth things over a bit though.
for everything you went through this week!

Re: is this really a big deal?
I would call and say hello to the little girls and explain what happened. If they still make a big deal out of it then you know they are just nuts.
I really can't stand overprotective parents.. its a minor thing and its liek getting a wart removed no life changing event no need to stop the world
