tilde! i just went through something like this with the FH's family. except, we called and stopped over their house when we went up to see them in the first place, and they were never home. and they never called once. and now his mom must of IMed me and said 'don't bother with us!', so i know what you're going through. =(

You and your FH were dealing with a death - they should really understand that.
You could always call/send a card with a little note explaining that you're sorry you forgot but it was a crazy week, especially since your good friend's father passed away.

ive been there with things like that... i dont think its that big of a deal.. its hard because you dont want to SOUND like you are making up excuses.. you are not.. but they think you are.. but I would still just tell them that it had slipped your mind because of wake/funeral and your uncle being in the hospital!
darn italian families.. they are too sensitive!! hehe
