Is this rude?

Re: Is this rude?

Just put it on your registry if people think it's too expensive they wont buy it and if they think the price is good they will. Dont worry about it, the registry is for what you want

no! I say get what you want who cares what the others think. they can choose to get it for you or not.

Definitely not rude. China is expensive, but everyone knows there are sales and they won't have to pay the full price. Your registry is supposed to have things that range in price because people's spending habits are different.

I don't think it is rude at all. I kind of just looked at my registry as a wish list of what my FH and I wanted. I didn't expect anyone to buy the super expensive stuff....but if they did I was very grateful (and the people who did were generally family and close friends.) We also made sure to put items on there between 19.99-49.99. My FMIL bought the china for us from our registry. I have noticed in the past showers/engagement parties I have been to that family members usually buy the bride and groom their china...and if not then everyone can get a set or two. I defintely do not think it is rude to put that on there.

No, i don't think it's rude. people know a nice place setting of china is expensive. the people who want to get it for you, will get it for you. mine was about $120 a place setting and I got 8 of them! i also got my $300 pots from ONE person. people will either go in as a group or most likely, you will be pleasantly surprised by people's generosity. also, people may be lucky and get it on sale!

No, it is not rude. You are not forcing anyone to buy it for you. Just make sure that you have some choices in various price ranges. We got some registry items as wedding gifts, not just as shower gifts, and the people who did that spent $300-$500.

Gina, it's not rude at all. Trust me, it will go on sale MANY times... and even when it's full price, it's really not rude.

My silver is $220 a place setting and never goes on sale. If people don't want to buy it for me, they won't! They will choose something less expensive, which is fine.

As long as yu have all price ranges covered on your registry, go with what you like. Do not settle because you think it will look bad to have plates that expensive on your registry. It doesn't look bad! Go with what you like!!

I dont think its rude at all! FH and I thought the same thing when we did our BB&B registry, but everyone knows china is expensive and whoever can afford it will buy it for you.

Absolutely NOT!! I went thru the same turmoil when doing my registry. I posted also, and the major consensus was 'Do what you want'

Basically don't settle or change your mind b/c of what others will/may think. If you like the $140 china, then by all means, put it on there!!

I initially chose a simple $49/place setting pattern b/c I was thinking 'I don't want to put anyone out' Then I thought about it and saw one I LOVED, but it was $120/place setting (not on sale). Decided to change it. I did only receive 1 place setting, but DH and I bought the rest, at Macy's using gift cards and Macy's credit card, got it at no interest, and we earned $$ on the Star Rewards.

it's absolutely not rude at all. The whole point of a registry is so you can register for all sorts of things, in all different price ranges. Most immediate family members WANT to get you a nice gift, and others, well, who knows....the bottom line is that you have on there what u want, and there's room for people to spend less or more if they'd like. don't worry about it!!!

I don't think its rude at all. You are OK as long as you have a varried price range. People put $500 vacuumes and mixers on theirs so why not.

You may just get 1 place setting from a couple, but who cares. FHs cousin registered for Vera Wang stemware ($37.50 each) and some people bought her 1 or 2 each for her shower.

No way, I say keep it. Especially if it keep going on sale. Maybe the bridal party will get it for you.

Re: Is this rude?

People are going to get you what they could afford. Some people may even chip in. I felt bad when I was registering and I kept choosing things that were cheap. Then my mother and sister were like choose the things you want. This is why you register b/c people will get you what you want or something close to that. I just peeked at my registry and the cheapest thing on there was the only thing purchased. So my theory could be wrong

Re: Is this rude?

Not at all!!! You SHOULD have some expensive stuff on there in case there are people that would rather give a gift than give $$ for the wedding and you don't want them to buy a $40 iron and call it a night- so I think it's good to have some more expensive stuff on there so they have options...
