I would think that the parents would enjoy a night out without an infant. JMO

i didnt want kids at all, but this opened too many cans of worms so i said fine no under the age of 14 and FI's aunt threw a fit and a half because she has 5 children. the 3 oldest would be invited but not the small ones (who are 4 and 5)

She threw such a fit that started a family war and her saying she wasnt going to attend which was causing more of a family war, that I finally just bit my lip and allowed her to bring her brats. I just couldnt deal with all the BS that was coming.

So unless you know that people wont throw a fit I dont see a problem with it, but if people will throw a fit and start threatening to not show up at the wedding then bite your lip and allow it. A family fued is just not worth it.

i agree with you for not wanting strollers and screaming babies, and thats all you have to say.. maybe the parents will leave all the kids home with a babysitter..although limiting it to 4 +, you may still get 4 year olds who are running around the whole place..

before you send out the invites do a little investigating. if these are relatives find out if they will be mad this way you have advance notice and can react quickly rather then sending out the invites and then find out whats going on because that could be added stress you dont need.

find out first if people would be mad because if they will be handle it now rather then later

Maybe you could offer to have a babysitter there and set-up a kids table with someone to watch them. Crayons, markers, games at a kiddy table will be lots of toys will solve the problem, kids of all ages will have fun and you don't feel like you are picking which children will attend!

I dont think this question will ever be answered for everyone. I want kids at the wedding- FI has 14 or so neices and nephews- too many for our taste or budget- so the decision was no kids except the wedding party kids - 2 flowere girls- one is daughter, one his neice/goddaughter and the ring bearer my cousin/godson. The only kid left from my side was his sister who is the same age as him (adopted) so I planned on inviting her (and am standing by it). He thinks his family will be mad- I think they wont even realize....

Also, the flowe girl ( his neice) has a sis-14 and bro-5, whom we would love to invite b/c we are much closer with them thatn his other nieces and nephews- but I think we are stuck there. That would start a war!

Did I totally ramble!!?

If it were me, I'd invite all or none. Every child from every family, or no children from any families. I don't know how I'd feel having one child left out, but I'm also the type of person who wouldn't bring an infant to a wedding. (ask me again when I actually have children )

I am the mother of 3 children (ages 8, 7, and 2) and consider it a blessing when they are NOT invited to weddings. My children were all invited to the christening of their first cousin. I am only bringing the older 2. People who freak out about this stuff really need to face reality. Children don't belong at adult affairs. No offense but it isn't always fun for the kids and it certainly might ruin the brides day let alone the parents.

Either all or none. there is no difference between a one and three year old, really. If you want, invite only kids 10 and up. i also suggest that you make sure you ask your hall about a kid's menu- we did this for the 3 kids we had at ours.

I agree, most parents would rather NOT take an infant.
You have to be consistent. If you invite one...you have to invite all.

It is either all or nothing.

Well first see if the parents are okay with the situation. Then maybe you could have a babysitter and have the baby in the bridal suite during the reception with the sitter.

My godson is RB-his kid sister is not invited unless we get a lotta 'no's'. The parents aren't happy but . . they're dealing with it. We're only inviting family children - my Godson will be the only child attending who's not a blood relation.

Our site doesn't provide discounted children's plates, so gotta pay full price for them. The parents in our BP ALONE have 11 kids I refuse to pay full price for kids, plus our room only holds 175 & I'd prefer to use that space for adults. Not to mention, when folks start drinking they don't wanna watch their kids & we don't want/need that either.

I'm sure someone will blast me for this, but my theory is when parents wanna go out & do something they wanna do, they have no problem finding a babysitter for that. So if they can't get a babysitter for our wedding then I guess they won't be there. sorry so long

honestly, we are not inviting children under 12 because A) they always fall asleep early, and then the parents want to leave early B) It keeps their parents from truely enjoying themselves C) I just don't want them there. Call me a mean old lady if you will, but I just don't. And god help the person who gives me a problem about it. Everyone has been forewarned that this is not a decision for them to make, and any exceptions I make (like our FG who will be 7), are not a point for arguments. It's just the way it is. End of story.

PS- I LOVE children. I've worked with them for years. I just don't want the youngins at my wedding.

I would think people would not want their kids at the wedding so they have a good time, who wants to be running after their kids at a wedding??? I am not inviting any kids, the only child that will be there is the FG, I say do whatever makes you happy, don't worry about other people's feelings, you will not be able to please everyone

I am my sisters MOH my daughter is her FG. M new baby will be 4 mos. when she gets married she said no to the new baby who I will be breast feeding and I thought it was very rude and hurtful that she does not want her new neice or nephew at her wedding.
