So I'm covering all the costs for my mom and my BM's (there's only two of them) as a gift to them. But even though there aren't a lot of people, the costs of hair and makeup still adds up....so i've been trying to find local people who charge less.
So I recently had my makeup trial (sorry, no pics, my sister took the pics and still haven't sent them to me). And I thought i looked just okay...pretty much how I would look if i did my makeup myself.
So I've been thinking about hiring someone more reputable to do my hair and makeup and using the local people for the mom and the BM's. Is that totally selfish?

Considering that you are offering to pay for their hair and make up I don't think you can consider yourself selfish! It's a really nice gesture on your part no matter who you use

I would talk to them about it and see how they feel...maybe they're willing to pay half and you can pay the other half.

i dont think it is selfish at all! i was actually thinking of doing the same thing. i am not going to be paying for everyones hair and makeup so i wanted to hire a more local person for them since it will be less expensive for them. plus....not to sound selfish, but....you ARE the one who is supposed to stand out. they just need to look good. and by hiring someone to do their hair/makeup in the first place they WILL look good. i dont think it is a bad idea.

I dont think it is stupid. I think they shoudl be happy that you are paying for these things! I think that Denise maybe right. Let them know who you are using and if they would like to use the same person tell them your contribution

I dont think it is selfish. They probably know you are on a budget and will understand. Besides they will prolly take it as more that the person needed to spend more time on you and didn't want to rush to get everyone else done.

It's not stupid at all! If anything, it'll save you time since your makeup and hair will take longer than theirs. If you hire different people, everyone can get ready at the same time instead of waiting for one person to have their hair and makeup done before someone else can start. You don't have to tell them it's costing you less or anything like that...
I know my FH's mom is just going to her local salon for her hair and makeup because she trusts them . We're just going to pay her back afterwards when she tells us the cost.

Not selfish at all.....
First off-you're the bride. This is YOUR day. So you should make sure that you look your best. You need to feel beautiful from start to end, and if that means that you need spend more money on you, that's 100% find.
Second--you're giving a generous gift. And if the girls want to go to the same place as you, they can pay the difference (or for the whole thing).
