Do you think 1750 is too much for fh's wedding band? its a platinum band...fortunoff just called me with the price, the one he tried on was in white gold and that one was 600.

yes!!! if you go ANYWHERE other than fortunoff, you will not pay that. fortunoff has beautiful stuff, just over priced. that is where i go to get ideas - then i go somewhere else to have it made.

It really all depends on your own budget but that would've been way too much for us for one band. We both got white gold (even though my e-ring is platinum) and both our rings came to less than $1000 total.

Re: Is this too $?
I have no problem with Fortunoffs. But DH and I decided that since he did not care what kind of metal his ring was, we would get yellow gold. I personally prefer yellow gold bands on men. So we ended up saving a lot of money. I was really surprised how much the platinum bands were.
I, however, have a platinum e-ring and a platinum eternity band.

I haven't researched prices of wedding bands...but I do know from experience and other peoples experiences that Fortunoffs is WAY over priced with their jewelery. You can go anywhere else and get something similiar and get quoted less. JMO

Does the band have diamonds in it? Or is it the plain band?
If it's plain -- I'd say it's too much, yes.

Re: Is this too $?
My jeweler told me that platinum is about twice as expensive as gold, so based upon that theory, Fortunoff's price is too high.

no diamonds

Re: Is this too $?
That price seems a little high for platinum but it also depends on how many mm's it is. On Blue Nile, there was a great 6mm platinum band for around $1000.

I don't think its too much for a Fortunoff ring. But if you go to regular stores you can probably get it for cheeper.
You are paying for the 'name' here.

I thinkit is a lot,. I dont' knwo your FH, but I think most guys would think that is a lot.
We got matchign bands--ours were white gold & around 500 each. I roginally wnated platinum, b/c my e-ring is, but I went to a place I had recently bought soemthing from & they only had gold & we found something we liked, so we went with it. It looks fine with the e-ring.

Re: Is this too $?
No, platinum is very expensive. We opted for white gold for that reason. FH's ring would have cost about $1500 in platinum and we got both of ours for about $300 in white gold.

Re: Is this too $?
Yes Fortunoff is way overpriced as most retailers are - even though their quality is excellent. When FH and I went ring shopping, we went there to look at settings and FH was having the ring copied someplace in the diamond district on 47th street in NYC. This way he could get a better (or equal) quality diamond for a better price. Retail mark up on jewelry can be as much as 100 or 200% and in my opinion is completely unnecessary. Though I think you should go with your heart and what makes you happy for yourself.

I definitely think that Fortunoff's is overpriced for jewelry. You may want to try the diamond district for a platinum band. FI bought my engagment ring from a jeweler we trust. We plan on getting our wedding bands there also, which will be platinum.

Re: Is this too $?
I am no expert, but I would say yes, it is too much. My DH's platinum band with milled edges (plain, no diamonds) was about $850 from a jeweler in the city. I also think the e-rings we looked at in Fortunoff were more expensive than mine was (same carats, mine was more colorless.)
Shop around a little more- you can probably do better.
