Our wedding is June 3rd. The RSVP date for the invitations is April 20th (for certain reasons). I was going to mail invitations out around March 10th -- is this too early in relation to our RSVP date? or is it good?
I think it's fine. I plan on giving myself plenty of time to gather RSVP's so mine will be going out early as well.

Re: Is this too early?
Does the RSVP date seem unusually early for a June 3rd wedding??

Re: Is this too early?
Definitely not too early....your guests will have more than enough time to send back their RSVP's.

Re: Is this too early?
Jenn, sorry to be the only one to say it, but personally if I got an invite for a June wedding and the RSVP was late April I would feel that it's too early.
That being said, it really ISN'T too early, but it would seem that way. Also, my FH has a job where he can only request days off one month in advance so that is something that would influence my train of thought that maybe wouldn't influence anyone else.

Re: Is this too early?
our RSVP date is april 30th for a june 9th wedding.... mainly to force the OOT'ers to book hotel rooms while the block is still reserved.
We sent out the invitations today, becuase a lot of people have been asking about details, and about 30% of our guests have to travel 1k+ miles, and need to make arrangements soon...

Thats our reason for the early RSVP date too. Also, because i KNOW people are going to wait til the last possible minute to send them back and we have to give our final # to the RH 2 weeks before the wedding I figure, that'll give me enough time to start calling people who dont send the replies back on time.

unfortunately, our invitations and reply cards are already long printed. So, i guess it doesnt matter much. But at the same time, I dont really see why it would matter much if people are asked to respond that early? They already knew about the wedding forever ago when we sent out STDs.
do you think people will be like 'omg, why do we need to rsvp so early?'

nah people will still not rsvp or rsvp late. You can never win
in that respect, you are right in doing it early so you can call people stressfree.
I might copy you now

its true -- i did it to avoid people being annoying and not rsvping on time, but it wont matter -- there will always be those people

Re: Is this too early?
I think asking for a RSVP 2 months in advance is a loooongg time.....1 month should be sufficient. XOXOXO Kitty

Re: Is this too early?
I read that the general rule of thumb is 12 weeks prior. I dont think its to early at all. 6 weeks prior for RSVP date and 6 weeks prior to that you mail it.
