I found a videographer that can do the basics for $875. However she is asking $400 for deposit...
Is that too high for a deposit? The remainder will be due on the wedding day at the arrival

no with only a year to go.
my photog/video is $5300.
We had to pay 20% already, and additional 30% on December 31, 2010 so that's 50% before we're even in 2011. i think that's pretty standard IMO.

Maybe a little too high.. normally it's 20% to book the date, then 30% 6-8months before...

I really wanted bridal prep but for basic wedding coverage - its not bad! I guess I have to get over bridal prep since this wedding is costing us a fortune as is

seems standard enough- and plus, wouldn't you rather pay more now then close to the wedding when ALL the big money is due
