Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

My sister wants to order her BM dress in florida and I told her that I was going to order them together so they are cut from the same ream of cloth. My sis said thats not true, they just say that so you can order all the dresses together and make more money. Who's right?

I've heard that but don't know if it's true or not.

Why can't you order the dresses together and have your sister's shipped to her and she can get fitted in Florida?

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

I think your sister is probably right. First of all, if the manufacturer has a bunch of the dresses that you need, they are certainly not going to produce a new set just so that your dye matches. It's just not a smart business move.

Right, they may not produce a set specifically for Divabride if there are dresses already made but they will pull all her dresses from the same dyelot ... that's good business practice...

That was the original plan, but everything I want to do, she has a problem with it. So instead of getting aggravated, I just dont care. If she wants to order it in florida, go right ahead. But Im really afraid if it is true about the color. I dont want her sticking out because all the girls are wearing the same dress including the Maid and Matron (my sis). If the color stand out from the rest, it will downplay my MOH.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

I tried to order one of the bridesmaid dresses in another state.
The saleperson that I spoke in the other state is the one that recommended I buy them all together. She said, especially with a deep color, they cut the fabric all from the same lot for all the dresses. There is a good chance it could be a little off.
With a lighter color fabric it wouldn't be too noticeable.
I am doing eggplant.
So, she lost a sale on her advice.

That is why they wait for the entire bridal party to get measured to submit the order.

Good luck.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

You have to order all the dresses at the same time or they are from different dye lots. The color difference can be extreme so I wouldn't risk it.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

My sister is calling her measurements in to my store in NY from Florida and when the dress comes in, I am going to mail it to her and she can have it altered there.

I think this is one of those times when you have to pull the Bride card. Your sister is being a little unreasonable. She can call/fax her measurements to the store so all the dresses can be ordered together, then shipped to her.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

1 of my OOT brides is ordering from Rochester while all the other girls obviously ordered here while the other 2 girls from Rochester were visiting and ordered theirs here too. They are having theirs shipped.

I am not sweating it though. If its off at all, it will be slight.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

ORDER THEM TOGETHER! TRUST ME!

They messed up one of the BM's dresses for my sister's wedding (they store BURNED it with an iron) so they ahd to replace it with a panel from another dress (same dress, same color). It was two COMPLETELY different colors. I would NOT chance it.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

Your sister is wrong. The dye is always off a liiiitle bit when ordered separately.

If she is out of state, have her go to a tailor and get measured (find out from your bridal shop what has to be measured other than bust waist and hips). Then bring to your shop.
I don't think it will be a problem.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

Both:
A place does want to sell you more dresses but this is a legitimate point. Many BM colors are custom dyes and to get an exact match -- they recommend their being ordered at the same time. I doubt the differences would be that profound if you ordered from two sites but kind of something to keep in the back of your mind. Also, if you order all of your dresses in one place, you typically will be offered a discount like 10% off each or fourth for 1/2 price or something.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

I was told the same thing, because of dye lots. But I had a BM in PA with two little kids and a MOH in MN, so it was really hard to get them all together. They both ordered from shops near them, and if there was a difference in the colors, it was barely discernible.

Re: Is this true or are they just pulling my leg

Definitely definitely order them all together. There are regional warehouses for each manufacturer. The warehouse for Florida may be different from the warehouse for New York. Therefore, the fabric may be slightly different - whether it's outright color or texture. Either way, it makes for a sloppy look and some awful pictures.
